Got ribbon???

I was going thru a box of cards I've made and realized that I've never showed ya'll this little beauty. Wendy saw it on facebook quite a while back I'm sure, but I thought I'd share it with the rest of you.

We all know what a ribbon whore I am and I could not wait to get home to use the ribbon I had just picked up. Basically the card was created for the ribbon lol. That's just way sad isn't it?

Don'tcha just LOVE those little Prima roses...a little tid bit of info, I get them in white and cream to have on hand and they color up nicely with a marker to match your card.

I just recently went thru all my ribbons sorting and yes, even tossing those tiny little scrap pieces I seem to want to horde forever *sigh*. Unfortunately, they still don't fit into the rather fair sized modular drawer system I have set up for my supplies...what's a girl to do....

Not so long ago Wendy show us a card that wasn't quite right...however, she kinda had an excuse (shhh, she had a few glasses of wine). So, I put my big girl panties on and am showing ya'll a card that I envisioned as being the cutest thing next to itty bitty baby toes ;) (yes, I have babies on the mind with all the wonderful news I've had lately) 

You can totally get what I was aiming for, it just didn't work out as I'd had hoped. Well, at least I tried...my downfall was stamping on the kraft color vs. white or cream and I simply need to practice with the fluffy stuff a bit more.

It's okay if a card doesn't work out...contrary to what we see out there in blog and challenge land, we aren't all perfect and ya know, I'm okay with not being perfect :)

I'm a Fussy Cuttin' Mad Woman!

Soooo, I don't know about you but I can't think of a better way to spend a rainy afternoon than by playing in your woman cave (that is what my crafty room is called - The Woman Cave). And that is exactly what I did, and what was I doing? Fussy cuttin' my little hands off. Yep - every little thing on this card.

And although my hands were not happy with me, I think I like the results of all that cutting almost as much as I like the smell of the Tiger balm I had to use on my hands at the end of the night - HA! Once again, the only enhancements I used was crystal laquer...no glitter (oh don't worry - the next couple of cards I made were full of glitter!). I also raised the chickie and the clouds with a few little pop dots.

Learning a new technique....

So, there's this little trick I've seen some gals in the crafty world do and I've really been wanting to try it out....

I've seen the gals stamp distress inks onto a stamp block (for clear stamps), spritz it with water and use the special little tool with the felt pad to swirl them together onto the paper. I dry embossed white cardstock to give it a little texture then combined 2 shades of green and one blue...Not too bad for a first time, whatcha think? For the flower I used pencils and gamsol...I heart that effect!

Triple Dip

You can never have too many birthday cards on hand for when you need to just grab one and go. OR if you are like me, you just may need a quick little design to throw together quick but still look cute. Enter the triple chickie cone!




Now for a closer peek...



I just added a wee bit of crystal laquer to the cone and the cherry on top. Usually I would add a little glitter but I opted for some rhinestone bling instead. Now you could add a sentiment to this card very easily as well.

If I were a blinkie....

If I were a blinkie, I'm almost certain my forehead would say "I <3 chickies!"

Cause let’s face it…we ALL do!! How can you look at one of those little guys and not fall head over heels? That being said, how many chickies can you fit on one card (said in my best owl licking a tootsie pop voice)….wait, strike that…I just SERIOUSLY showed my age…ohhh bad bad bad. Since the Owl and the tootsie pop are retro, does that make me retro too?? Hmmm, let’s just look at the card and ignore all that and my age shall we ;) ??

Now for some reason (my picture taking incapability wouldn't have anything to do with it hehehe)the black panel looks like it's at the top of the card. In reality  it's pulled down a little so that there is a little of the base card showing and the black panel is popped up with foam tape.

Since I wanted to keep the chickies “boy / girl” even, the top right chickie was “invented”. I needed another girl and didn’t have a single one (just the girlfriends one) so I used the plain chickie and added the teeny heart stamp for a princess wand. Now that I think about it, I could have given her a bow in her hair too…dang it >.<  !

Each chickie is outlined in citrone glitter and has a little crystal lacquer accenting something. I wanted to pull in the yellow from the chickies so I added that yellow border...not sure if it's working for me or not.

Goin to a stamp show.....Don't hate....

Yes, you read that right, about the time this little post goes up I will be partaking of a little "go-go" juice (aka coffee) and hitting the road to go to Anderson, SC for the Heirloom stamp show. Anderson is ummm about 2 hours or so away so I gotta get up early to get there when it opens! Now, if Denami were at this show I would be in HEAVEN but alas they are gonna be where I USED to live.... in MN this weekend. *Sigh* But I wouldn't move back there if ya paid me ....nope nope nope I am so very glad to be back in the south!

So, even though I have been in a card making frenzy lately, I haven't really came up with anything new....until this little cutie .....




Come in a little closer....





Very simple but I like it. That little flower there in the middle is a little embellishment that I found in my stash of goodies. I stamped in light pink in the background. If you look closely in the second picture you can see it. It shows up much better in person.
