Hi everyone, how are you this fine Monday morning? I'm actually off work today...woo-hoo!! Did you do anything fun over the weekend? I just chilled and relaxed :)
Today brings us a new challenge at
The Shabby Tea Room. Now, right off I'm going to admit that I had a VERY HARD time with this weeks theme, it really threw me for a loop! If I was just making something using the little boy or the colors as inspiration...not an issue. But this week we are asked to use "reading" as our inspiration....YIKES!
Hello shabby friends and welcome to another fun week of inspiration and creativity here in the Tea Room! This week Rebecca is our creative host and she has chosen the theme of Reading along with this beautiful photo for inspiration! Rebecca asks that you create a card or project inspired by 'Reading' and create a card or project that uses this theme. Young or old, showcase the pleasures of reading!
FOR YOUR SUBMISSION TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE WEEKLY PRIZE AND HONORS: Because we are sponsored weekly by wonderful businesses who have graciously donated products and in the interest of fairness to all participants, any entries that do not follow our simple challenge rules will remain in the gallery but will not be eligible for the weekly prizes and top honors. Thanks for your understanding and participation!
Well, after looking through my stash of Paper Sweeties stamps (our wonderful sponsor for this week) I didn't have anything that made me immediately think of "reading". I actually dwelled on this theme for quite some time before it hit me that maybe a post card would be fun. I mean, you do technically read post cards so why not, right? So there, my "reading" issue was all wrapped up, lol! Whew, what a relief!! Sometimes I just plain ole struggle with things. My little brain just can't wrap around a concept what so ever. I waited until the last minute to make this card and turn it in, hoping to draw a bit of inspiration from my seeing what my fellow team mates turned in but it seems like they were waiting until the last minute too, lol! Well, I pulled out my Vintage Postcard stamp set by Paper Sweeties and made this....
I started off with a kraft A2 base that I die cut then layered some fum denim floral paper and added a little accent strip using more kraft and matching paper from the same 6X6 paper pad. To make the post card I cut a piece of cream cardstock and stamped 3/4 of it with an old background stamp from my stash that looks like writting and then stamped over that with a Paper Sweeties sentiment. I then used the Vintage Post Card set to make the dividing line, address lines and stamp. I popped it up with foam tape and added some fun paper flowers in the corner. I really wanted to add a little blue under the post card for a shaddow/mat but just didn't have anything on hand that matched the blue in my patterned paper and it was too late to try to go to the store and find something so I had added that little strip of kraft instead. It didn't turn out too bad I guess.
