As I was looking through my little basket of DeNami cling stamps trying to find my leafy squares, I came upon this one and was hit with a warm childhood memory and came up with a really cute, yet, cheesy idea....
It had me thinking of the little valentines I gave and received in my younger days. Thin baseball card sized valentines tucked into a small white envelope that were for the most part, pretty cheesy. I couldn't help trying to recreate such a fond memory. I thought about how to make my sentiment and as you can see in the end I went with just a hand written one vs. using an alphabet stamp set to make it. I wish I had nice handwriting, but again, I was thinking back to my youth and me sitting at the kitchen table agonizing over which valentine to give to Ron Davis, the love of my life at age 6 (and first ever kiss from a boy!) and how the writing on the back of my valentines looked worse than a doctors, lol, so I think it all worked out. I tried to make it kind of wavy to represent the smoke from the train however it didn't turn out as I'd envisioned, but all in all I'm pretty happy with it.
What are some of your favorite Valentines Day memories???
Delightful! I remember those valentines and that sentiment in particular :-). Thanks for the fun memories!
ReplyDeleteThis is a sweet card! I am hoping to make mini valentine's day cards too! I don't recall many V-day memories. I guess as I got older, I remember my dad always gave me a sweet gift. If it weren't for him, the day would have been wrecked! Nobody else loved me!!!
