The Shabby Tea Room - challenge #247

The Shabby Tea Room

Hello shabby friends and welcome to another fun week of inspiration and creativity here in the Tea Room!  This week our challenge is called Pop of Pink!  Please create a card/project INSPIRED BY THE PHOTO!

FOR YOUR SUBMISSION TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE WEEKLY PRIZE AND HONORS: Because we are sponsored weekly by wonderful businesses who have graciously donated products and in the interest of fairness to all participants, any entries that do not follow our simple challenge rules will remain in the gallery but will not be eligible for the weekly prizes and top honors. Thanks for your understanding and participation!

Hi everyone, isn't that inspiration picture just too sweet? I wanted to keep with the "country feel" so I pulled out one of my favorite Paper Smooches sets called "Crystal Clear". It also has several matching die sets to cut out a lot of the images.

I stamped and die cut a little mason jar then "dry fit" it to a white panel and stamped my flowers (from DeNami - Elegant Spring Flowers) then colored them in. I removed the jar and stamped my sentiment (also by DeNami - sending you love). I then took my panel and ran it through a swiss dot dry embossing folder and adhered it to my card base with foam tape. I wanted the jar to have dimension too so I attached it with foam tape also after adding a piece of twine around the "rim" of the jar. I thought it needed just a touch of something else so I tilted the lid up against the jar and added a sprinkle of sequins in the upper corner to balance to the whole card.

The Shabby Girls are pleased to welcome our sponsor -  Dies R Us!

Please link your creations to The Shabby Tea Room by Sunday, March 15th to play along. Winner and Tea Time Terrific Top Three will be announced Monday, March 16th. We will have an all-new challenge for you to play along with on the 16th as well, so please come back and visit with us again for another chance to win!

A Flower For Mother's Day

Goodness, I'm glad we are finally on the downside of this week! Monday started off WAY out of control and Tuesday wasn't much better...sigh! I have high hopes for today and tomorrow I get to have fun because in the evening I'm teaching a card class at The Stamp pad (chalkboard technique). I can't wait for some down time this weekend though, I SERIOUSLY need some!! ;)

Speaking of this weekend, Sunday is Mother's Day, are you ready??? I'm not, lol! Well, I take that back, I sorta am because one of the cards I made for my class is a Mother's Day card but I haven't been shopping in forever so I have no gift! Hmmm, maybe a gift certificate to The Stamp Pad...taking the easy way out but hey, it works! ;)

Well with Mother's Day on my mind I have another DeNami creation for you...

I used one of my favorite "go to" layouts and came up with something that used fairly non-traditional colors. Who would have thought charcoal for Mother's Day, right? I thought the charcoal would lend a touch of elegance and really make the pink pop. I used 3 stamps for this card...Happy Mother's Day sentiment, Elegant Spring Flowers set and the vase from the Garden Accessories set. There's a lot of "white space" and if you follow me for long you will soon realize that I don't normally do good with that, lol...I had to refrain from adding to this card. Now that I look at it on the computer screen I'm glad that I left well enough alone!

Well that's it for me today, I'll see ya on Friday!!!

a little jar of country flowers

Hi everyone, I just wanted to pop in with a little entry for the 10 Minute Craft Dash over on the Pretty Pink Posh blog. Nothing like being down to the wire is there? I made this card several days ago, however, with Mother's Day week here on the blog I just never had a chance to post it! Sooooo, today gets 2 posts! I was going to wait until Saturday but I need to be back over at my Mom's for some cleaning and grocery store duties and she has NO internet!! EEKKK! Those were a tough couple of weeks when I was staying there to help her after the surgery, thank goodness for smart phones!

I'll keep this short and sweet. Here's my desk before the card. Pulled out lots of fun things to use and some pretty patterned paper.

Here's my desk after making the card looking like a tornado blue through my crafty area, lol!

And finally, here's my creation that took almost my whole allotted time!! 9 minutes 58 seconds (insert wiping of brow here) whew!
yes, the flowers are purple...I promise. You can even see my purple Copic marker laying out on my desk ;) No matter what I did in editing they looked a just little blueish in my opinion...sigh

That's it for me today! Don't forget to scroll down one little post to see today's Mother's Day card and I will be back here in the morning with one last creation (my fave I think) ;)

Elegant Mother's Day tulip

Wow, where is 2013 going...it's almost Mother's day!?!?  With Mother's Day just a couple of weeks away i thought I'd do a Mother's Day inspiration week. This means I'll be posting all five days instead of just Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Hope you get a little smile and inspiration from what I bring this week! :)

Today I have an elegant-ish Mothers day card to share with you. I've used this layout on several occasions ("borrowed" from Paulina ;) ) and just love how it turns out.
I went with a soft color palette which makes it a little classy vs. going with the bright fun colors that's normally more my style. I started off with the idea of stamping several flowers in the vase but after stamping the first one is just seemed right to stop right there.

I'll see you back here tomorrow with another pretty card for Mom!
