summer butterflies...

Can you believe that sometimes I forget to show you a card that I've made? It's crazy isn't it? I found this little cutie in a draft in blogger while searching for something else. Normally I change the "post date" so that when I save something as a draft it's always at the very top of the list but for some reason I must have forgotten with this card. I actually made this card last summer and was excited to show it off because I accomplished something I can't do very well...make a one layer card! If y'all know me at all you know I'm all about the layers! Every once in a while I like to take a step out of my comfort zone and create a card using a technique or style that I'm not comfortable with. This card is one of those creations!

I pulled out a couple of border stamps and a few individual stamps to make some mock layers....

I started off by stamping the scallop border near the top of my card base then stamping the pretty border from the Spring Garden 1 set. Now that I had a "layer" made for the focal point of my card I filled in the "base layer" using the little Mini Butterfly stamp to make a faux patterned paper on both ends of the card. With that done it was time for my focal panel, I used one of the butterflies from the Fancy Flutters set to make it look like I had butterflies sweeping up the card. I then added a sentiment (one of my FAVES!) and one of the little accent stamps from the Spring Garden 1 set. To finish it all off I simply colored in my butterflies and added LOTS of glitter.

Well that's it for me today, I hope you like my little one layer card and I hope you challenge yourself to step out of your box and take on a technique or style that you struggle with too!

treat bags

Before we start todays post, I have some fun news to share with ya'll! DeNami has truly out done themselves once again. Have you ever needed some insperation, just want to see some lovely eyecandy or wanted to learn a new technique? Well Denami has put all of that right on their website! Just click the "learn" tab on the DeNami homepage. There's idea sheets, tuitorials, card making basics (including a tool list to get you started if you are new to card making), videos and much more all in one easy to use area. Be sure to go check it out...I just LOVE what they came up with and how very helpful it all is.

A while ago my sissy-in-law was condemned to life in bed at the hospital until she delivered my niece and nephew. To cheer her up, I decided to make some little treats for her using the new glassine bags....

Unfortunately or maybe it is fortunate...depends how you look at it, she didn't get the little treats. The night before I was going to give them to her, the doctors decided to bring Lucy & Henry into the world. Things have been a whirlwind since then and hopefully I will get them to her soon :)  I already have plans to make some more for Easter baskets...

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think....good or bad....or even better - what would you have done differently??...crafty minds wanna know!
