I know that I promised ya'll a whole week of Easter inspiration but I thought I'd sneak in a "bonus post" for your viewing pleasure ;) I've already got an Easter card posted for today and will have one for Thursday & Friday too so make sure you come back!!
On to your bonus post....
The reason for this little post is to enter a card into the current DeNami challenge. Yes, I could have waited until Saturday, but sometimes life has a way of butting into my best laid plans so I decided that since the card is ready I would show it now. Is this themes graphic not the cutest ever?? I would love to have this little chickie as a stamp!!! (hint hint, Nami - hehehe -)
If you have been following me for any time at all, you know I am a layer girl...the more the merrier in my estimation! This one layer challenge truly a challenge for me...I rarely make one layer cards. I'm just not one of those talented gals that can make something so clean and simple. So, in true layer loving fashion, I did what I do best...I made "layers"!
I was laying in bed (do my best thinking when I'm trying to fall asleep) Monday night trying to come up with a plan. My plan involved creating mock layers and hopefully being able to create a mock edge punched look. Can you believe this is exactly as I pictured it? You gals know that it's pretty rare when something turns out perfectly like we pictured! Well I hope you like my design. I think this evening I will remake it using actual layers...can't wait to see them side by side!
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think....good or bad....or even better - what would you have done differently??...crafty minds wanna know!

I made the card over using layers last night. It's amazing how closely the inks (Versafine Vintage Sepia & MementoRose Bud) I used matches the DeNami cardstocks!! I took a quick picture with my cell phone this morning. Thought you might like to see them side by side...
Tina, this card is so pretty! I love the faux layers and the pretty PINK butterflies. (silly husband of yours...)
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us in the DeNami Theme Challenge!
OMG! I can't believe this is only one layer!!! It looks amazing! I am so impressed with how you made all the faux layers because they really do look real! Also, I LOVE how you used the Three Line Border. I'm gonna have to do that one of these days. Totally fabulous!
ReplyDeleteVery creative - I'm with you, CAS is more difficult for me. I LOVE layers. Very nice job!
ReplyDeleteOne layer cards make me twitch! I love seeing them when other folks do them but they make me crazy to try and do. I am soooo impressed with your one layer card. You colored all around that scalloped edge to fake a layer-oh my! So detailed. It just ROCKS. The card that actually has layers is so similar that.. wow!
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe. Your one layer card is AMAZING. Truly. I cannot believe that you made that faux scalloped edge look so clean! And I LOVE the way you made a "ribbon" with that border stamp. This rocks.
ReplyDeleteThis is SO PRETTY, Tina!! I LOVE your faux layers!!! And SUPER FUN to see the one-layer and multi-layers side-by-side!!! Awesome work! Thanks for playing along in the DeNami Design Challenge!!
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS work Tina!! Love your sparkly butterflies!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to believe that your card is just a single layer!! Wow, you did a super job creating all of those mock layers--they look super! And using the lines and bow stamps to make "flat" ribbon? Genius! This looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Love your mock layers! Beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteThat looks great!! I too have a hard time without layers but this challenge was fun!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely darling -
ReplyDeleteand as much as I love layers, I think that I like your one-layer even better than your multi-layer! They're both so pretty!
