Classic Black & White

Happy Friday...are ya glad this week is done? My week isn't quite done yet, I am teaching a card making class featuring Flowersoft at a local stamp store tomorrow. Sunday will be my day of running errands and housework...so much for having a weekend, lol!

Today I want to share a classic little color combo with you...

As I said on Wednesday, this card is very easy to put together. I started out with an A2 sized card base in black then layered on a white panel that I had ran through a dry embossing folder. I attached a length of sheer ribbon around it and glued it down flat on the front where it meets (covered by the center square). I made a panel layering black and white cardstock for my sentiment. and attached it flat to the card front. I punched 3 scalloped squares out of black cardstock and cut 3 white squares from white cardstock. I stamped a design on each white square (making sure I remembered that I was using a diamond shape so I stamped using a corner as the bottom instead of one of the sides) before laying them onto the black ones. When I had the panels layered I simply attached them to the front of the card using foam tape/pop dots. To finish it all off I added a pretty little bow  to "anchor" sentiment. 

I don't think you can ever go wrong with just black & white...it's timeless and classic. However, you can jazz it up by adding just a little pop of color. For example I could use a different color ribbon like red, yellow or even a pretty teal, skys the limit on the color selection. I could also stamp the sentiment in a color that matches the ribbon color. How would you change it up and add color?

Graphic Black & White

Todays the last day of my wedding theme week. I'm a little sad, I really liked this theme! Today's card is a little more CAS yet still a little elegant. I went with a traditional black and white color palette.

I punched a few squares and stamped a little design on them then made a little border down the side of my card. I really debated adding a little pop of color. It was very hard, but in the end, left it to a pure black and white theme.

Cause I Wanna Be Like my Twinkie....

Soooo a few cards ago, miss Tina made a few cards using the purse stamps from Denami and I knew I just had to have them. You can see her cards Here and Here.

Yes, I had seen them before....yes they were on my "to get list" but after seeing her cards those cute little stamps catapulted themselves right to the front of the line.





And now for a little closer look...




Now I will admit - I was tired when making this card. So, the coloring didn't turn out as well as I would have liked (used a new marker - not sure I will be using it again - the color didn't stay true) but I don't want to only put the "perfect" cards here on the blog. I want to put the "so-so" ones on here as well because it may just be "so-so" to me but it may inspire someone to create something absolutely FANTABULOUS! (Well, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it).

And while I am being all honest up in here.....this card is actually going into my "sample/blooper" pile. "Why?" you ask? Because I glued the purse on the card UP.SIDE.DOWN (yep - I told ya I was tired when making this card and it had absolutely nothing to do with the glass of Chardonnay...nope....nothing.at.all!) The opening is at the top. Can't tell can ya?

Water Lily

This is the first post with my new stampin' blog that is dedicated to my addiction to Denami Stamps. First of all let me say, that this is a company that "gets" it.....quality, customer service....they are AWESOME! I had the unique pleasure of working with them this past winter when they attended a local stamp show in Columbia, SC. I was a HUGE fan before that show, but after that show....I am down right addicted (for which an intervention is NOT needed and all enabling is encouraged LOL!)

So for my first card - I used some of the newly released stamps that I received last week. I am working on the quality of the pics - I make cards I am not, nor have I ever been (or claimed to be) a photographer....just ask my kids ha!....

This card was made using the following stamps: C57 Mini dot wreath, PF50 Ornamental Flowers, and E150 Water Lily. I also used Denami cardstock and the pink grosgrain ribbon also from....you guessed it....Denami!
