It's all about Dad....

As I mentioned yesterday, I think this is my favorite Father's Day card out of all of the ones I've made. I love the fun orange & red color scheme and how can you go wrong with a stache'???

I think I was channeling my inner cowgirl when I made this card since hubby was in the background watching an old Gunsmoke on TV. Don't ask...but he loves him some Gunsmoke...sigh. ;)

I had purchased the mustache from Ohh wow, my mind went blank!! Well, anyway, I had the mustache and decided to pair it with the darling cowboy hat from the cowboy stamp set. I added a fun button and chose some twine that made me think of rope for a lasso and finished it all off with a fun Father's Day sentiment "flag".

Well, I'm kinda sorry to see Father's Day week over. Like I mentioned at the start, it's bitter-sweet for me. I really have enjoyed making all of these cards and sharing them with ya'll. Are you ready for another week full of inspiration? I have been busy busy busy making some wedding themed cards to share with you. When did the month of June become the official wedding month...and why?? Beats me, lol, but I'll be here everyday next week with some inspiration just in case you know someone tying the knot!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Dads a star...........

I've had this camera on my wish lift for a loooong time but never purchased it because I thought I'd only use it for scrap booking, not card making. So, it sat on the back burner for longer than I care to admit. ;)  Since I'm now able to start scratching off a little of my wish list items, I went ahead and purchased the camera and both of  the film clips.

I knew that I wanted to try to incorporate the camera into a card but just wasn't sure how. After playing with it for a little while I came up with this. I like it but at the same time I don't like it, ya know what I mean? If I saw this exact card somewhere by someone else I'd love it, it's just strange to me because it's not my usual style.

Do you remember the big DeNami birthday bash?? I won the "pin it to win it" contest and was lucky enough to receive 6 random items that I had pinned. The little square word bubble and the all star greetings set were part of my winnings. I've wanted both of them for a long time too!!

Here are links to the camera and film clips. Best of all...they're on clearance so you can get them at a bargain price!!

I have one last Father's Day card to share with you tomorrow. I think this one is my favorite of all of them. The bright fun colors to the fun layout, it's perfect. :)

I'm super excited today!! Not only am I having a great time shareing my Father's Day creations with ya'll, but I have the great honor of being a guest blogger over on the DeNami Design blog, where I showcase a prettly little floral card made from 6 Petit Four sets!! ;)  Hope you stop by there for a little visit!!

See ya tomorrow!!

Cuppa Joe for Dad....

My Father-In-Law is a coffee-a-holic if there ever was one. You rarely ever see him without a cup of coffee in his hand. Knowing his love for coffee and how he's not into any kind of fuss, just likes plain jane sort of things, I made this little card with him in mind.

DeNami has LOTS of guy friendly stamps and this little brushed espresso stamp is just one example of how versatile they can be. I used my Tombow markers to "color" the stamp instead of using an ink pad so that my steam could be a separate color. I wanted the cup of coffee to draw you eye but not take over the whole card so I left it uncolored. The Happy Father's Day cling stamp was the perfect addition to finish off this little creation.

The perfect card to give my Father-in-law, no frills, bells or whistles. Just CAS and it incorporates his most favorite thing!

I'll see ya back here tomorrow with another fun card for dear ole' Dad! Is he a camera buff and like taking pictures for the family or is he the family clown always putting on a show?? If so, then boy oh boy do I have a card for you tomorrow!!

A little friendly bee

Hi everyone!! How about a "bonus post" today?? I really don't like doing 2 posts in one day, but sometimes it just happens. I started out Father's Day week today so if you're looking for that post you can find it right here.

The reason for a second post today is that I wanted to enter a card in the Paper Sweeties sketch challenge. I know there's plenty of time before it ends, however, on more than one occasion I've made a card for a challenge and when I went to enter it saw that someone else had the same idea so I didn't enter my card....can't have 2 of practically the same thing can you, just makes you look like you coppied even though you didn't...sigh. I've learned my lesson and if I can, I submit my card right away :)

This little cutie is perfect for summer. One of the big fads out in crafty land is hexagons. It always makes me think of bee hives...maybe because hubby has 3 honey bee hives?? I just have bee's on the brain, lol! I've had the adorable dry embossing folder for a while now and wanted to pair it up with the little bee from DeNami. How perfect, right?

Well, then I found the cutest little set of stamps called Fun Shapes over at Paper Sweeties and knew I HAD to have them..it's several different shapes, each with a different little pattern. I thought this little rounded flag shape with the hexagons was the perfect addition to my little bee and embossing folder. I added my very favorite DeNami sentiment and fussy cut the flower portion of the small sunflower (psst, it's on clearance), and fussy cut the brushed bee. I finished it all off with a little bling and some yummy hand dyed ribbon from Paper Sweeties.

I'm loving the "country summer" feel to this little creation. Well that's all for me, I'm off to go submit the card and maybe get some actual work done here at work, lol ;)

Don't forget to stop back in tomorrow for another fun Father's Day card!!

A wonderful Dad....

Hi everyone and welcome to Father's Day week!! I have four "guy friendly" cards to share and hopefully give you some ideas on creating a wonderful card for your own father or father-in-law!
There are 2 times a year that I dread, one of them is Fathers Day. I was and still like to think of myself as Daddy's little girl. I was spoiled rotten and had the most wonderful father a little girl could ever wish for. People that haven't lost a parent ask if you ever truly get over the loss? I tell them that no, here 10 years later I'm still not over it. I accept it and have moved on, but will tear up quick when a strong memory is triggered. I am lucky enough to have a great Father-In-Law that always has a smile on his face and is very kind. My son was lucky enough to grow up with both of these men in his life. So, all that being said, this week of cards is a little bitter-sweet for me. I enjoyed making the Father's day cards and yes, had a few tears in doing so, but also a lot of smiles and wonderful memories flooded my mind and warmed my soul. How'd I get so lucky in this life of mine???
On with the post!!  Today I have once again pulled out patterned paper *gasp*! Did you notice the touches of pink...Yup, it's manly and has pink! I had to add some girlyness somewhere, it's hard making a card that's all "guy friendly", jeeze! ;)
In May Paper Sweeties released a new set of stamps and I knew I just HAD to have them. The sentiment is perfect for all occasions. It includes the "you are the most wonderful" then tons of names to add to make the sentiment what you want...host, friend, Mother, Father, Son, Daughter, Brother, Sister. I just LOVE it and like I said, HAD to have it!! Kinda like the little frame I stamped it in. I am just gaga over the two new frames from DeNami!! They are perfect for so many things!! I've stamped both sentiments and images inside of the frames and both are very easy to fussy cut as I've done here. Today I left the frame uncolored, but most of the time I color in the little border to really make the frame pop. I think both frames are a top five "must have" for any DeNami collection ;)
Here's a link to the frames:

This little card couldn't have been easier to put together. I used a little lime and chocolate DeNami cardstock (insert tears and sniffling here because they are discontinuing their cardstock line) along with 2 coordinating patterned papers. I used only 2 stamps, the oval frame and the sentiment. This layout is easy peasy and perfect for any man, just change out the sentiment for a Happy Birthday or congrats on your graduation, this little card is very versatile!!
That's it for me today, I'll be back here tomorrow with another Father's day card. If your Dad or F-I-L is a big coffee drinker like my F-I-L is, you'll like tomorrows card for sure!!

DeNami Happenings - June 2013

Hello everyone and welcome to another monthly installment of DeNami Happenings. Can you believe it's June already??? Where has 2013 gone? Wasn't it February just last week? Ohh my, I seriously need to catch up, time is just rushing right past me lately!!

This week I've gone into full on Father's Day mode. I will be posting everyday this week bringing you some Father's Day inspiration...well I hope I bring you some anyway ;)

I'm currently working on a few wedding cards since it's that time of year again and will be sprinkling them in here and there for you too.

*blogger note: I wrote this post on Friday afternoon and at that time only had one wedding themed card finished and an idea for another one. I was really having fun with this theme over the weekend so now you'll have to put up with a full week of wedding and wedding shower cards ;) ....sorry, hehehe

As usual, if there's any DeNami image that you'd like to see me use, just send me an e-mail or leave me a comment!

DeNami has a lot of shows planned for this month:

Tool Talk - May 2013

Hello everyone! Are you ready for a new Tool Talk? I know I am and I'm LOVING todays tool, It's one that I certainly CAN NOT live without! Today we have a super talented and sweet gal joining us. She's know to most of us through the DeNami blog....Design Team Member, Wendy Elliot!! I'm so thankful for all of the gals that have helped make Tool Talk so much fun. I've decided to open up this fun and informative little segment to give more people and oppertunity to talk about some of their favorite crafty items, so if you'd like to feature your favorite tool right here on the Addict blog just send me an email to DenamiAddict @ yahoo.com.

Hi, It’s Wendy from “Created byWendy”.  I’m so excited Tina asked me to share my favorite crafting tool with you.  I knew right away what I wanted to tell you about.  It’s nothing you can actually see on a finished project, but I promise it sure holds it all together nicely!  I’m going to share a few of the reasons I love my Scotch ATG Tape Dispenser . (it's out of stock, but just drop Paulina am e-mail and she will be sure to get you one right away!!)
Reasons why I love my ATG:
  1. My projects do NOT fall apart. The adhesive is amazing!
  2. I don’t have to refill the tape very often.
  3. I can use the adhesive for everything!  The ONLY other adhesive I use is foam tape.
  4. Available in Acid free to use on photos or scrapbooking.
  5. Holds on embellishments, bows, etc. Roll adhesive into a “glue dot”.
  6. Once you invest in the gun the refills are very affordable.
  7. Not messy. You can roll/wipe off the adhesive if you are messy with it.
  8. Tape goes exactly where you want it.
  9. Repositionable – as long as you are quick.  May need to “huff” on the cardstock if its stuck too good.
Cons:
1.   Dispenser is a bit expensive.  $35-$75.
      2. It’s bulky. (I can’t loose it on my craft table this way!)
3.A bit tricky to reload, but once you figure it out it’s EASY.
I used the tape to create a glitter strip.

Rolls directly onto flat embellishments like this button.
Or roll adhesive up to make a glue dot to attach ribbon, twine or other bulky embellishments.

Wendy had LOTS of good ways to use her ATG. I have to admit that it took a little getting used to the size and weight, but after about a week I was using it like a pro and it felt like an old friend! This is one tool that you'd have to pry from my cold dead hands to get it from me. ;)

There is one little tid-bit I'd like to add to Wendy's "pro" list. Sometimes I goof up and apply my ATG to the wrong side of my cardstock or just simply change my mind on adhering a piece of cardstock. That doesn't mean you have to throw it away...all you do is rub your finger on it and it rolls right off the paper! Also, the refills are fairly inexpensive and the tape lasts FOREVER. When you make the quantity of cards that I make, that's certainly a great point!! You can buy these tape runners at your local big box store, however, it will be the narrower version. I have both guns and tend to reach for this wider (commercial version) version 99% of the time. While you only get one refill for the price with the wider version, the tape is actually equal to the footage of the two narrow tapes that come in the refill for the narrow version.

I hope you've enjoyed this months Tool Talk and don't forget, if your interested in writing about your favorite tool or brand of crafting product, just send me an e-mail or leave me a comment. I hope you take the time and visit Wendy's blog....she's uber talented and is always posting some yummy eye candy!
