Are you in the mood for love....

Ohh my goodness, have you looked at the calendar lately?? We are well into January already and do you know what that means??? That means DeNami's spring 2014 release sneak peeks are underway AND Valentines day is right around the corner!

Let's get to DeNami's sneak peek first. Starting this past Monday Paulina and the design team have showcased some of the DARLING new images on the DeNami blog. Follow along and leave comments to be entered into random drawings to win some of the new release...how fun is that?!? As soon as I finish up here I'm headed over to DeNami to do just that!! Don't forget, the new release will be available in the shop on Friday!

Now then, let's discuss valentines day. I haven't made any new DeNami Valentines day cards yet because I'm waiting to get my new images. But just in case you want to get a head start, I've pulled a couple of my faves from the archives.

This is a little easy to make card that I did a start to finish video on :)

I just puffy heart the rosevine heart, here's a couple of easy to make cards featuring it...

How about a classic Valentine...

Well I hope these gave you a little inspiration to kick start your Valentines day cards. February 14th isn't that far off...ohh my, and here I still haven't recovered from the Holiday card season quite yet, lol!!  As soon as I get my little hands on the new DeNami images I'll have a little more valentine inspiration to share :)

Tips & Tricks - inspiration

Today I want to talk about inspiration. We all get inspired differently, weather it be from crafting with a friend, browsing Pinterest or blogs. There is inspiration all around us everyday. It can be a pattern or a pretty color palette, all we have to do is be open to it.

If you've followed me for long, you know that one of the things I'm known for is making my own patterned paper. I LOVE pretty patterned papers and even own a ton that I have stashed away, but it's sooo easy to just pull out a few stamps and make my own.

I was browsing through a local material store when I came upon something that stopped me in my tracks and had me thinking "I can do that on a card!!" The material was grey with a solid black leaf/vine type pattern all over it then there were pretty white flowers overlaying the leaf pattern.

I was quick to pull out my cell phone and take a picture ;)

The material has the flowers filling up the whole area, but I decided I didn't want my pattern that busy. Also, I decided to not only do black leaves, but a dark grey also for even more contrast. And besides, can you use the solid leaf vine without using the solid leaf sprig along with it?? ;) hehehe.

I have to admit that I didn't quite "nail it", but that's only because I totally hate heat embossing. :(  Had I stamped the flower in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with a white powder I would have gotten the effect I was originally going for, but ya know, it's still ok. When I first stamped the flowers they were a bright white and really popped, however, as they dried they lightened and now have even turned a grayish color. Ohh well, it still works and I'm still happy with the result and that's all that counts, right?

Stamps:
  1. elegant square frame
  2. love flourish
  3. solid leaf vine
  4. solid leaf sprig
  5. polka dot butterfly

The next thing I have to show you is an odd place to get inspiration, but as I was saying before, it truly IS all around us in our everyday lives.

My hair brush...

Here's the card I was inspired to make...

This little card turned out exactly as I had envisioned it. I just love all the layers of the flowers. 4 stamps to make one flower might seem a little excessive, but the end result was well worth it ;)

Stamps:

You just never know where you might find some inspiration so look around and don't be afraid to take a picture for reference! I even have a little "notes" app on my phone where I jot down ideas while I'm on the go. My latest note is a pretty color palette I saw while shopping at Target that I want to try....you just never know!

Have you made a birthday card lately?? Then why not enter it in the random drawing I'm having right here on the Addict blog to celebrate both my and the blogs birthdays??

That's all for me today, Thanks for stopping by!!!

Rosevine wedding card

Hello everyone, hope you were able to join in all the fun for the hop yesterday! There's still time to hop along and leave comments for a chance to win a yummy DeNami gift certificate! If you're looking for my hop post, it's just one down, thanks!!

Well, I hope you enjoyed last week's Father's Day theme! I had a blast showing you my take on a few creations. Now I'm all geared up for Weddings! Unfortunately I only know one person getting married this year, but that didn't stop me from making TONS of cards. Once I got started, I just couldn't stop. lol! I wish I had a few of the DeNami wedding themed stamps, but they just aren't in my budget right now :(  but hopefully next wedding season I will have a few more wedding stamps (the wedding bells & contempo couple...sigh). Even with limited stamps, I have a ton to show so life is good, right? Let's get started with what I think may be my favorite one....

This card was super easy to create and as a bonus, I used up some scrap rose colored cardstock and a little stashed vellum! I knew I wanted the rosevine heart to be my focal point and that I wanted to have a pretty little doily in there somewhere and after a few mishaps came up with this. I've never stamped on a doily before, but why not, right? I finished it all off with a few black rhinestones, some fussy cut roses from the rosevine petit four set and a yummy silk bow I made from a thanks for ordering freebie from Ellen Huston.

That's it for me today. I'll see ya back here tomorrow with a fun wedding shower card! Don't forget to stop by the DeNami blog for the full list of hop participants so that you can play along if you haven't already!!
