A little of this and a little of that...

Blogger Note: I was reminded that in order to be elgiable for one of the challenges I entered, that my project can only be entered into 3 challenges, not 5....OOPPPPPS! I never even thought about my card being in too many challenges! Well, it is what it is, I'm not elgiable, but I'm still proud of myslef for acomplishing something I've never been able to do and I had fun....that's all that counts in the end isn't it? Besides, I knew I didn't have any chance of winning that particular challenge in the first place, so really, I'm okay with the bad news :)

WHEW!, that was some drama on Wednesdays post wasn't it?? I knew y'all would understand exactly why I was frustrated...us crafty gals stick together, lol ;)   I called my soon to be Daughter-in-law and told her to swing by on her way home from work one night this week and pick them up.If I see a check at some point in my life from this then I'll consider myself lucky....

Now for todays post!! I did something that I'm considering quite a feat. Patting myself on the back even, lol!! I always see gals entering one card into multiple projects and always wonder how they do that. I can never get things to fall into place creatively like that....well, until today that is!!

Here's the list of challenges I'm entering:

Yup, you counted right...5 challenges!!

Hey, I'm just as astounded as you are, but the challenge Gods have aligned the stars and it all works out! Ready to see my little card? Ohh wiat, first I better tell you the rules....
  • The Shabby Tea Room, Paper Sweeties & Jo's Scrapshack are pretty self explanatory, picture inspiration and sketches
  • Sweet Stamp Shop is a "use what you have" challenge. They also have a sketch & inspiration picture you have the option to use if you want. But basically you can make anything you want as long as you use your stash, no fair buying anything new!!
  • Lawnscaping is asking us to use our favorite things this time around. It can be paper, stamps, embellies...whatever crafty element that floats your boat ;)

Alright, now it's time to see my card, lol...

I used the summer theme, colors and flowers from The Shabby Tea Room's picture, I used stamps and patterned papers from my stash for the Sweet Stamp Shop requirement (pic to follow...you have to show your stash), I followed the sketches provided by Jo's Scrapshack and Paper Sweeties and to finish it all off I used stamps from 4 of my favorite stamp companies (DeNami, Paper Sweeties, Lawn Fawn & Sweet Stamp Shop), ribbon, patterned paper, Momento inks, Copic markers and punches (drool) per Lawnscapings requirement. Can't you just hear Julie Andrews singing These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things...hehehe! Not too bad though, hunh?? Ohh and for those of you "in the know" when it comes to my fave DeNami stamp, I did go back and forth about using the polka dot background, but opted for my 2nd fave, the gingham background, because it just looked better in this instance ;)

Here's my stash pics for The Sweet Stamp Shop:

Here's my collection of Paper Sweeties, Lawn Fawn & Sweet Stamp Shop stamps. Y'all have seen my DeNami collection that's almost 500 strong at this point, lol! Too much to take pictures of again, but the link is still at the top of the page under the DeNami Collections tab. Feel free to add yours too!!

My stash of patterned paper packs is slowly taking over my little rolling cart...I think I may need an intervention. At least the Sweet Stamp Shop challenge is making me use some of it up ;)

Well that's it for me...what a long post!!! I will see you back here on Sunday for the Krazy for Kraft blog hop hosted by DeNami and on Monday I have a super fun announcement!! Have a great and safe weekend! :)

Happenings - September 2013

Well hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Happenings! If you're new here, on the first Monday of every month I just sit here and ramble about all sorts of stuff I find interesting and things I think you might want to know about. ;)
I have some super exciting news I'm DYING to share but unfortunately I can't tell y'all about it quite yet, but look for a fun bit of news later this week!!

Well, ya know how I sent in an application for the DT call at Sweet Stamp Shop...yeah, I didn't get the position. However, it was the nicest "thanks but no thanks" e-mail I've ever received, lol!! But you know, that's alright, I can't win them all now can I? You can't let a little rejection get you down, ladies...you have to take it on the chin and keep reaching for that dream. :)

Ohh my goodness, did you see the AMAZINGLY fun news over at Paper Sweeties??? The little "paper dolls" now have matching dies so you can cut them out!!! I was humbled & honored to be "in the loop" from the start on this little addition to the stamp line....what fun!! And as for the name (insert patting myself on the back here), I came up with Sweet Cuts ;)  I never come up with good names and have no clue how I mamaged that one, lol!!

And speaking of fun new products, DeNami is going to start carrying a HUGE line of dry emboss folders!!! When I worked in the show booth last month I knew they were toying with the idea, but wow, they're going to do it...fun fun fun!!!

A good thing about buying the folders either with a stamp order or even by themselves is that they really don't weight anything...shipping should be way reasonable! I can't wait to scope them out!

Did you have a chance to see the start to finish card video or the step by step card tutorial I had on the blog this past month? You can find all of my tutorials, tips & tricks, videos and other fun stuff by clicking the links at the top of the page.

I'm gearing up to start my fall and holiday cards right away. If there's any stamps you'd like to see used just let me know :)

I'll see you back here on Wednesday with another little card using the fun Peacock feather stamp!!

Nom Nom NEON Nom....

Lately as I walk through the stores I'm taken back to my teenage years...the 80's was full of great music, big hair and bright neon colors! From clothing, notebooks, hair accessories and nail polish...neon is {once again} HOT HOT HOT!

All this yumminess makes me want to grab a white shirt from my dads closet and pair it up with a loose pencil (skinny) tie, a wrap around belt. black leggings those thin nylon neon socks with the fold down cuff and a pair of black flats! Ahhh, those were the days.....sigh!!

While shopping at the "big red bullseye" store, I came across something that made my heart smile...neon Washi!!! I quickly snapped a picture and texted Paulina (From DeNami & Pretty Pink Posh). Ohhh the joy and wonderfulness those neon Washi tapes brought to me, I was in love at first sight! I quickly scooped them up into my cart! I would have probably tried to shank someone with some Cutter Bee scissors and tied them up with Doodle Bug twine if they dared touched my Washi...just sayin'. It would have been U.G.L.Y!

When I got home I decided it was finally time to order the fun neon inks that I saw Paulina using from Ellen Hutson (link on her Pretty Pink Posh blog - bottom right hand side).

Good thing Ellen Hutson has super fast shipping, I don't think my heart could have taken too a long wait! The day I received them I just HAD to make a little card. The little splatter and sentiments are from the Zombies stamp set from Sweet Stamp Shop was perfect for showcasing these fun colors....

After stamping my splatters and sentiment I added a few strips of neon Washi and finished it all off with some paper "twine", a little flag and a lime green button. Hope you love it just as much as I do :)

Since I already had the stamps, button and paper twine (and kinda sorta the Washi) I'm entering this in the challenge over at Sweet Stamp Shop.

This week they've changed things up a bit, you can use one or both or neither of these pictures as a guideline....

That's it for me today. 3 day weekend...woo-hoo!!, what are y'all going to to do? I'm hoping to spend most of the weekend in my crafty area :)

You Make Me Smile

Hi everyone! Today I have another little challenge card for you. This challenge is fun and makes you use up some of your horded or just forgotten about stash. Come on, just admit it, I promise not to judge, ;) we all have those packages of embellishments that we've only used one out of or a set of stickers we just HAD to have and never used, we just shoved it to the back of the drawer never to be seen again. Well, break them out and join in the fun over at the Sweet Stamp Shop blog!

I pulled out my drawer of scrap patterned papers, a few misc doo-dads, bling, some twine & ribbon and my beloved Washi.

I hadn't picked my stamps or my solid cardstock at that point. I just sat there staring at my crafty left-over goodies...stared some more....stared a little more....Then decided to pull out some pretty PP and just go from there. I decided to revisit a little layout I did for Mother's Day week.

I ended up using a sentiment from Paper Sweeties...the So Sweet Of  You set and the rose is from Sweet Stamp Shop's new Dia De Los Muertos set. I started off with a celery green card base and added my layers of patterned papers. I stamped my white panel, added a line of bling (thank goodness they came on a glue strip so I didn't have to do them individually!) and the pretty yellow chevron ribbon (from Little Free Radical on Etsy) I thought it still needed a little "something", so I dug through my allotted goodies and came up with a little piece of crocheted lace. I was worried it wouldn't be long enough, but no worries, it was and I even had to snip off just a hair...whew!

I still can't believe that I'm guest designing over on the Paper Sweeties blog for their month long challenge and this weeks challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room! I'm on cloud nine! :)   I'll see you back here on Friday with a little card that fits the current paper Sweeties challenge!

Under The Sea

Before I get to today's post I must apologize for my picture. The computer was angry with me and decided to teach me a lesson and not work....sigh. I had to do this post on my phone and that my friends is no easy feat!! I didn't want to leave y'all hangin' by not having a post today so I did it the hard way ;)

I was feeling kind of nautical so I pulled out some fun stamps and got busy! This darling little Mermaid, seahorse and seaweed is from the Under The Sea set by Sweet Stamp Shop. They are a perfect fit with the bubbles and tiny seaweed stamps in (you guessed it!!!) the Under The Sea set by DeNami, lol.

I started off making my background by stamping polka dots then stamping the 2 different sizes of sea shells and filling in all the areas with the small seaweed. I edge punched the celery card stock with 2 different punches the to soften it I punched the corners at the top. I layered on a little stamped panel (seaweed and bubbles), solid cardstock and some yummy hand dyed tea stained seem binding from Paper Sweeties. Using the bubbles and small seashell I made a small panel for the back drop to the mermaid. I colored and fussy cut the large seaweed, mermaid and seahorse. After playing with how I wanted them laid out I added foam tape so there would be lots of dimension and finished it all off with a little bow.

Today is the last day to enter my birthday giveaway. All the inf can be found by clicking the graphic to the right. I'm giving away a $25.00 gift certificate to a random winner, I hope you enter!
