Pretty birthday greetings...

Hi y'all! I'm poping is today with a quick little post. I wanted to enter a challenge over at Jo's Scrap Shack.

I just love Jo's blog and try to enter challenges there when I can. I've been kinda slacking on entering challenges lately but I'm getting into my groove again and feeling comfortable with all that I have going on so it's time to get back into the challanges :)

This week Jo is asking for our take on a little sketch...

Here's what I made...

 

 

 

Guessing I'm not ready to let go of summer quite yet...hmmm. For my card I didn't leave the border spaces (black lines in the sketch) because I wanted it to seem more like one piece of cardstock. I just HAD to break out my mucho loved DeNami Gingham Background stamp and paired it up with the DeNami Daisy Trio and the happy birthday from their All Occasion Greetings set.

The Project Corner - Kraft Gift Boxes

Hello and HAPPY FRIDAY everyone :) Today I have a fun little project to share with you. Last month a sweet friend of mine had a birthday and as part of her gift I wanted to include some buttons and other little doo-dads but wanted to dress them up a little. Who wants ugly packaging....right?? I had already made a little gift bag (can bee seen here) and little baubles would just fall out so I needed something else. I had decided to use a little cellophane bag with a  pretty ribbon treatment and when I went to get a bag from my stash, I saw this....

 



Yup, we've all seen these cheap (usually just a buck) kraft boxes in various shapes and sizes in the big box crafty stores and many of us have even purchased a few with "good intentions". There it was, staring me in the face and I had a light bulb moment! It's PERFECT to hold little bits & baubles!! Now the hard part...what the heck to do to jazz it up!!

 

 

Well, I knew her crafty space was made up of  soft girly colors so pulled out some stamps, patterned papers, cardstock, ribbon and assorted doo-dads that would match then got busy!!

 

•  I started off with a piece of celery cardstock cut to size to fit around the base of the box and stamped the DeNami Gingham background on it, then edge punched it. I attached it using my ATG
• Next I marked where the bottom edge of the lid came to and using Chrystal Lacquer, I attached the gathered tulle skirt. (was purchased this way in the ribbon dept at Hobby Lobby)
• Using another edge punch, I punched out a little piece of pink cardstock for a trim accent (zig-zag) and adhered it with Chrystal Lacquer
• to finish off the base I made a little green bow. Using a brad, I attached the bow through the front of the box

 

 

 

Now it's time to work on the lid....

• I cut a piece of celery cardstock just a bit smaller than the lid stamped it using the gingham background again then punched the corners and adhered it
• I had some patterned paper with little rulers all over it so I cut them out and glued them around the lid. I made sure to use several different ones for a more eclectic look. To cover the seams and for a little fun element, I attached a few pretty buttons

I had a hard time deciding what to do to finish the lid, After much thought and sleeping on it, I decided to go with this....

• using the same gathered tulle I used on the bottom of the box, I made a little rosette. I secured the top and underside of the rosette with a punched scalloped circle
• I stamped and fussy cut some solid leaf vines and solid leaf sprigs. After a little fussing with where I wanted them, attached them to the underside of the rosette
• next I made a little sentiment flag. I cut one from the celery and a little smaller one from white cardstocks. I stamped the white flag using the DeNami polka dot background then stamped the Hugs & Kisses sentiment. After deciding where I wanted it, I adhered it to the backside of the rosette too
• using Chrystal lacquer, I attached the whole thing to the top of the box
• to finish it off I added one more button with a little twine bow

 

 Well there you have it...a pretty box made for next to nothing! $.99 for the box, $0 for scraps of cardstock, $.35 for patterned paper, $0 for ribbon scrap, $0 for buttons in stash and $2.00 for gathered tulle. That's less than $3.50!! AND it's perfect to hold little bits and bobs.  Now I need to make one for myself!!

I have some exciting news!!!

Well, I've been sitting on a bit of happy news for for a while and today, well, technically yesterday, I'm allowed to tell everyone!! Today I am PROUD to announce that I am one of 5 new design team members to be joining The Shabby Tea Room challenge blog On Monday, September 16th!! (insert happy dance here) Can you believe it, me...on a DT, and not just any ole' design team, but The Shabby Tea Room!?!?! There's some seriously amazing talent over there and I feel on top of the world and am so happy to finally be able to share the happy news with all of you. Your sweet comments and the encouragement I gather from them are what gave me the courage to even apply, for that, I thank all you!

To apply I was to send in a little info about myself and my blog along with a card I made based on this inspiration picture...

I picked up a lot of elements from the inspiration picture...color palette, clock on the table, gingham pattern, flowers, pearls and even the little circle frames on the chair cushion.

I hope I can hold my own when it comes to working with the rest of the team, I've visited their blogs and boy oh boy are they TALENTED!

Howdy Pardner'

 Well hello everyone :) and welcome to Wednesday...woo-hoo, that means the week is half over and I can see the weekend in sight!! ;)

Unfortunately I'm still having camera issues so I haven't taken any pictures of my newest work, but that's okay, this way I'm forced to show y'all some goodies I made a while back and hadn't gotten around to! 

I actually made this little guy right after the stamps were released at the beginning of the year!  There's just always so much to share with you gals that my little cowboy kept getting shoved aside!

 

Cowboy Chickie is too cute for words isn't he?? And then when you pair him up with the fun Petit Four sets (Southwest stamp set, Cowboy stamp set)  you really have something!! If memory serves me right, this is the first card I made using my beloved Gingham Background stamp....sigh, love at first use!! ;) hehehehe See how versatile it is...I used it here for a bold & fun western theme and you've seen me use it all the time for floral, shabby chic and girly girl themes. You can have it bold and stand out like this or soften it and have it as a pretty little accent like I did here...what a perfect little stamp for your DeNami stash!

Happy Birthday to the 10 Min Craft Dash!!

Hi ya everyone! I literly only have a couple of minutes, but wanted to get this little card posted for the current 10 Minute Craft Dash! I made this cutie last night, but duh...forgot to take before and after pics of my work area like I usually do...I feel worn down and there's just soooo much on my mind at the moment. I'm lucky I still know which way is up!! I rushed to take pictures of the finished card before leaving for work this morning and realized I hadn't taken pictures while making the card...sigh. UGGG!

Here's my little card....

Time: 9min 52 seconds

I started off with a kraft card base and layered on some pink cardstock then some scrap PP and scrap stamped paper (that was a time saver for sure!). I was able to use my ATG to attach the lace because I knew I was covering the top of it (another time saver!). Then I attached a length of already sewen ribbon (bought it that way...yet another time saver!!) I made my little bow and attached it and the flowers. That was the hard part! I originally wanted to go with a giant button, took the time to thread it with twine and tie a pretty bow but just couldn't get it to look right. I quickly abandoned that and grabbed the large flower...thank goodness my flower drawer is next to my table, no body has time for that kind of stuff!!! After a BUNCH of fussing I finally came up with this arrangement. I didn't have much time left so I was in a state of panic making my sentiment. I used the clear tape method that I showed ya'll in one of my Tips & Tricks segments back in June of last year. My "birthday" sentiment is a little long but I was worries about time so I had to just leave it. I'm happy with the card over all...it's a winner in my heart and that's all that matters ;)

one layer chickies

Hi everyone, I have one last Easter card to share with you. I couldn't resist pulling out one of my fave one layer card designs and making a fun Easter card. It's perfect for mailing since there's no bulk and easy enough to replicate when you're sending out a ton of cards for the holiday.

I generally use the polka dot background stamp for this layout but I just can't seem to put this wonderful gingham stamp down!! That's it for me today, I'm off to my crafty area to get a head start on Mother's day cards for all of you :)

Large Irish Chickie

Ohh my goodness, I was soooo happy to have an excuse to FINALLY pull out this large Chickie and dress him up in his new clothing!! He's cute enough to be on the cover of GQ ;)

I played around quite a bit with a layout for him, not so sure I'm 100% happy with this one, but it's kinda cute and lets him be my main focal point. I can't wait to play with this Chickie and all the fun accessories again soon! Notice that gingham background peeking out yet again...I told ya, I just can't get enough of that fab stamp!! ;)

Shamrock Chickie

I hope you enjoyed Monday's haul video. Better late than never, right? I still can't believe that I had forgotten all about it!! This past weekend I made another haul video and a start to finish Easter card video. Going to get them edited and I promise to not forget to post them! ;)

I just love this little shamrock chickie and was so excited about getting to pull him out once again! I paired him with one of the brand new backgrounds....

 

 He's just so cute and I can't get enough of that gingham background stamp either, I've gotten to the point where I quit putting it away, lol! It has prime position on my desk at the moment :)
