Time to play with Christmas images

So I had a little free time this past Sunday...about an hours worth actually but I was hoping for more...sigh! Anyway, I did manage to get a little crafty in my spare time. ;)  I had everything prepared for the next class I'm teaching at The Stamp Pad and had already turned in my project due for The Shabby Tea Room so I pulled out some new goodies that I received last week and got busy playing! Did you know that DeNami had a small quiet release recently? Unfortunately it came about the same time as my gallbladder issues so I wasn't in any shape to play with them and tell y'all about the darling new images...what a bummer!! But boy ohh boy are there some cute ones...including the beloved mascot...CHICKIE and friends!

I showed this on Facebook this past Sunday right after I made them and thought that it needed sharing here too!

While making this card I ended up getting the usual "I'm hungry" complaint from hubby. He was ready for dinner and the zoo keeper needed to feed the animals, lol! I already had the card pieces cut out and colored so I rushed to put it together and then snapped the pic to post on the DeNami Addict Facebook page. After cooking and cleaning up the kitchen I checked Facebook and looking at the post realized that I FORGOT to add a piece of red cardstock behind the chickie panel that I had cut and edged! Ohh my, see what happens when I get rushed?

Well, I corrected that little oversight!
I had a bit of trouble getting my chickie panel up due to having to use permanent tape runner (hate using that) but I managed and also managed to add the red panel that I found laying in the floor next to my chair...uggg!

As you can see, this is a very easy layout, quick to put together (even when using all the pieces, hehehe) and used only 2 stamps! Aren't those new Santa hat wearing Chickies just adorable?

Stamps:
Merry Christmas sentiment
Chickie Christmas garland

You can find the whole new release right here! Hope you love it as much as I do. Let me know if you have purchased any of them or plan to...I'm always curious to see what you make!!

Merry Christmas

Hello everyone and happy Friday!! Ohh my gosh...the LAST shopping weekend before Christmas...are ya ready??? Can you believe Christmas is Wednesday???? I'm sooo not ready. Usually I am calm and collected and have things done well in advance...not so much this year and I'm in panic mode! I just have my son to shop for and it's all his fault since he won't give me a clue as to what to get him. Darn kids!!!

With things being all willy-nilly this time of year I decided to pull a cute little card out of the Addict vault. I know what you're gonna say..."again with the Medium Pine tree??" Yup, again with the Medium Pine Tree...told ya it was one of my faves, lol!! ;)
I just LOVE making my own patterned paper and this little card is chocked full of DeNami yumminess!! For the card base I simply used the polka dot background with some Versa Mark ink. On the larger panel I used the same polka dot background stamp then stamped the berries and pine cone from the Classic Christmas stamp set. On the smaller panes I used the polka dot background again and then stamped the word "Merry" from the Merry Christmas sentiment along with the holly leaves from the Classic Christmas set I used on the other panel. It seems like I used a lot of stamps, but really, I didn't...5 stamps is all it took - medium pine, medium swirl, polka dot background, Merry Christmas sentiment & Classic Christmas. Having that little Classic Christmas petit four set made it very easy since you get 4 matching images in one little set. I couldn't live without my DeNami petit four sets!!

Well that's it for me today. Be careful out there this weekend, too many party goers and shoppers! See you on Monday :)

Monochromatic Christmas card

Whew...you wouldn't believe what just a couple of days off your blood pressure meds will do to a person! Saw my doctor, got a refill and am feeling much better!! :) So much better that I have a brand new card for you today!!

Before we get to that, I have to give a big ole shout out for our own uber sweet and seriously talented DeNami gal, Lisa Elton! She's one of the newest DT gals (starting January) over at Paper Sweeties!! How fun :) and I can't wait to see what she makes with those darling images!!! Congrats Lisa!!!

Alrighty then, lets get to todays little card! I saw a darling little monochromatic card in green and white on Pinterest (I'm sure you aren't surprised, lol) and wanted to make one myself....
Well I almost nailed it, lol!!!! After I made the card I thought it really needed a little pop of color so I redid my medium pine tree with it's little medium tree swirl overlay stamp. Well, doing that led to another change - I had to pull the gold color from somewhere so I changed out the green rhinestones for gold ones. All in all, I'm happy with my card even if it isn't the monochromatic card I started out to make :)

That's it for me today, I'll see you back here on Monday with the cutest little Christmas treat box!!! See ya then, have a great weekend!

I have 2 things to share with you today. I absolutely LOVE twine and tend to use it quite a bit on my cards. A little twine bow adds the perfect finishing touch to most cards and really, you can never go wrong with it! But for this hop I wanted to challenge myself and use twine in a different way....

For my first project I took a cue from our own sweet and lovely, Paulina. She's shown us how she die cuts an image and then layers yummy sequins under the negative. Taking a que from that I started out with a large (6" tall) kraft tag and built a fun panel that I raised up on foam tape.

I cut 2 maple leaves from my panel, distressed inked both the panel and tag then stamped and layered all of my "goodies" (even one of the die cut leaves) on the panel. I cut 2 small pieces of cardstock and wound different colors of twine around them. I placed them behind the leaf negatives then added the panel to the tag using foam tape.

I hope you liked my (not so little) tag! Now onto a fairly CAS Holiday card. This little card was easy peasy to put together. I made the card base and stamped the sentiment then ran it through a dry embossing wood grain folder. I die cut a fancy little panel that I attached to the card base using foam tape. The wreath was SUPER EASY!! I simply punched a circle out of cardstock then punched a circle out of the middle of that circle. I wound the twine around it and secured the end with a little piece of tape. You can't even tell that I didn't perfectly center my smaller circle ;) hehehe! I used a little Crystal Lacquer to attach it to the card then attached a few loops of red twine and some fussy cut holly leaves that I had stamped out. You can get any easier than that!

See the pretty green scroll? That comes in the holly stamp set from DeNami. You can stamp the scroll and then stamp the different sized/shaped holly leaves and berries on it. I decided to change it up and have it highlight my sentiment...I like the effect I achieved using it this way :)  Ohh, I forgot to mention my "berries"! I'm completely smitten with them...little teeny pom-poms I got at a local stamp shop. It was one of those purchases that you don't know what to do with the item but you just HAVE to have it, lol!

Classic Christmas...

I wasn't to sure how this card was going to turn out as I was trying to come up with a new layout. But in the end, it makes me smile, and we all know that that's what counts. It's very rare that I make a card on the fly without any forethought and comes out so perfect in my eyes. Hope you like it too :)

So whatcha think? I just had to have me some polka dots, lol. I started out by pulling out the green and lime cardstocks then realized I needed a 3rd neutral color and decided on kraft...kraft goes with everything! I just love that medium pine image. I purchased it last year along with the 3 stamps that you can lay over the top (this swirl line, stars and a mix of the stars and swirl). It's simply a beautiful little stamp.

PS: the medium tree swirl and medium star tree are on clearance....just sayin' ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

Following in my Twinkies footsteps...

***Edited by Wendy*** - If you are looking for the hop post....its on post down...ok back to Tina's post.....

Well it's that time of year again...where us card makers start to stress and go practically insane trying to come up with this years Christmas card design. This year I'm putting them on the blog and letting ya'll help me decide.

Here's my first design...
I just love a dusty green and maroon color combo. I added some gamma green, citrone & cranberry glitter for lots bling!!

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think....good or bad....or even better - what would you have done differently??...crafty minds wanna know!
