Bright summer flowers

I just love DeNami's floral stamps. They have a wonderful mix of elegant and whimsical and fun flowers to choose from. For this little card I chose to "build" my own flower. It's way easy using the fun spring flowers and garden flowers set. You can mix and match to create a perfect little flower for your card.

I just love these fun bright colors. You can't tell from the picture, but my background paper is glittered...too cute :)  Glitter makes me smile! I left mine blank, but you can easily stamp "Happy Mother's day" right above the little flowers.

The Birthday Bonanza blog hop

Happy Birthday to the best ever rubber stamp company, the one, the only, DeNami Design!!!!
I'm so happy that you could stop by and help us all celebrate this awesome occasion. So far DeNami is celebrating in style! I wonder if Nami thought that 24 years later she'd be where she is today? I hope the ride has been fun for her, Gary & the family! They are the sweetest people and I just LOVE dealing with their company!
Today I am lucky enough to join in on a fun Birthday Bonanza blog hop! DeNami holds a hop every month, but this one is special seeing it's their birthday and all :)

DeNami March Blog Hop

Why: To be inspired by fun DeNami Design creations and also the chance to win mini shopping sprees on the DeNami Design website!

You should have arrived here from the AMAZING Emily's blog (Don't ya just hate when you have to follow talent like that??). If you didn't, it's not a problem, just head back to the DeNami blog for the full list of participants.

I wanted to show what DeNami is all about and express that in my card. However, I couldn't sum it up in just ONE little ole card...I had to stop myself at 3, but I could have kept on going, lol!!! It IS a Bonanza after all ;)

Thought I'd try a couple of challenges

Good Morning everyone! Today is Wednesday and we all know what that means...this week is 1/2 over!! Can't wait for the weekend for some relaxation and much needed crafty time :) I will have to admit that since I started reading a little book series that my crafty time has taken a hit. I just can't seem to put these books down...I'm on the 3rd one and am sad to see them end...sigh, I'll miss Mr. Grey ;)

I did get busy and finish up a couple of cards I had started for the following challenges...
DeNami Design color challenge

CAS-ual Fridays Sweet Spot challenge

I'm really loving the color palette that DeNami DT member, Wendy, came up with...how pretty!! Then add in one of my all time favorite things...polka dots, how can a gal go wrong??

I started out with a black card base and added lots of layers using charcoal grey, iridescent pearl and white cardstocks. I used the dots from the basic borders set to bring in the polka dots from the dry embossed panel and added a simple vase with greenery. For the vase I stamped it and colored it in with a dark grey marker. I then stamped a leafy sprig and colored it in. I wasn't happy with the "neat inside the lines" coloring, it just didn't pop enough. I decided to trace outside the lines making the yellow bolder. I then re-stamped the vase and fussy cut it out, colored it and filled in the whole thing with Crystal Lacquer to give it shine and dimension.  After it was all dried I cupped it a little and attached it over the one I stamped on the panel. I had a hard time deciding weather or not to put a sentiment on the card, in the end I just left it off. I hope ya'll like it as much as I do :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great rest of the week!

Flowers for a friend...

Good morning everyone! Today I have a bright and fun card for you. I made this up for the Card Patterns challenge. Here's their sketch...

Here's my version...
If you've been following me for any length of time, you know that I rarely use patterned papers. I just love making my own and DeNami Design stamps make it so easy! Normally I paper piece this cute little basket, but I decided to do things the hard way this time around. I stamped the basket on my panel and then stamped it again on thin copy machine paper and fussy cut it out. I used the surrounding area from cutting out the basket to mask my panel before stamping the pattern onto the basket. I then used the cut out basket to mask the stamped basket area before stamping the flowers and greenery.

And a little side view to show the layers and shadowing...
This card also works for the challenge we have going on right here on DeNami Addict. Our theme this month is "garden"...all the info can be found by clicking the link on the side bar. Remember, you don't have to use a DeNami product to enter!!

marbled vase

A few weeks ago I was thumbing through a magazine and saw a card that instantly gave me some inspiration to create this....

The card in the magazine had the black bottom and a couple of different sized vases with flowers. I'm really loving what I came up with here. Yes, sometimes I do pat myself on the back, lol! Honestly, I'm not always in love with my work...it's just "ok", but this one...yeah, I'm really fellin' it. The effect on the vase was a fluke...but a good one! I stamped, colored and fussy cut the vase, then filled it in with Crystal Lacquer.  The glaze gave my coloring a marbled look...pretty cool, hunh? After it dried, I kinda rolled / cupped it and glued it on. Basically I wanted it really puffed out and dimensional. For the lines (where the sentiment is written), I used 2 of the stamps from the basic borders cling set.

So I am sure you thought I disappeared....

But I haven't.....but THANK GOODNESS for friends like TINA that keep this little blog up and running when I am so busy I barely have time to think!

So this Easter Sunday, as a little gift to myself, I took time to play with my goodies. And came up with this....

No not the Squeaker (the little ham)....the card.

Now take a closer (yet somewhat blurrier) peek.

Its fairly simple. I still may go back and add a sentiment. But you know me...I like simple.

Stamps used in this card: CL-GD002 (the border), CL-GD005 (the vase), CL-GD003 (flower) and A76 (ladybug)

Purple chickies...

I just love the Easter chickie! And the best part about Easter and chickies...you can get away with coloring them any color you want!!
I used a lot of traditional Easter pastel colors for this little card but couldn't help coloring that darling chickie purple!

Bright and fun flowers

I'm gonna have to show Blogger a little love today...usually Blogger is not a real good friend and has a habit of being a little mean at times. However, today, Blogger is rockin'! Love the new changes that I'm seeing today...way to go Blogger!!

Wow, here in the Midwest we are having some strange weather...it was 85 degrees the other day...what the heck?!?!?! Well all this warm weather and rain has lots and lots of flowers blooming...so pretty!!

I just had to pull some out and play with them. While figuring out what I wanted to do I randomly pulled out some cardstock...without even thinking about it, I pulled out the current DeNami color challenge colors! I just love Emily's choice...she did awesome picking this combo, didn't she?

Hope you like what I came up with...
I used Magenta, Desert Orange, Lime & white (for the daisies & leaves) cardstocks
I wanted to have lots of dimension and texture so I dry embossed the orange strip that I edge punched and also dry embossed all the daises and leaves. I added buttons to the flower centers (don't tell anyone, but they were left overs from Halloween, lol) Ohh my, have ya'll tried out the new Fuchsia glitter yet...ohh I just LOVE it. It's not as red as the cranberry and not as hot pink as the magenta...it's more of a dark pinkish/purple, you should really try it out...what a great color!! I used it on the larger daisies and strawberry freeze on the smaller ones.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think....good or bad....or even better - what would you have done differently??...crafty minds wanna know!
