For all of the girly girls...

Believe it or not, this is a card I created LAST JULY!! I've been trying to show this to you gals forever, but something else just kept getting in the way, lol. I wanted to create something for a friend that spoke of her fun and bubbly personality, not to mention her love of pink! She has been a life saver in more ways than one; weather it be techie help, spiritual help or just me keeping my sanity help...she rocks and I wanted to let her know I was thinking of her and appreciate her a lot! I think I may have captured her with this little creation. I'm glad I was at least able to send it to her when I created it and not a year later. lol!!!!

 

There's a lot of DeNami stamps that could easily reresent my friends personality and I couldn't decide on which stamps to use and the thought of individual panels all with different images finally kicked in. I love panels but when I start to make a card I never think about incorporating different sizes & shapes of them together like this. I used quite a few stamps on this card not to mention that it's basically a giant ball of glitter! Hmm, scallops, polka dots, glitter, purses (even if they're not from Coach), flowers, ribbon/bow and my fave color...everything I puffy heart love! No wonder we get along so well, lol, maybe I should have kept this little cutie and horded it, lol! ;) The only thing it's missing that we both love is a button...I sould have found a tiny one for the daisy center or maybe for the bow, too late now though.

A sweet friend

Have you ever had a friend that goes out of their way to help you with things, let's you pick their brains, sends you surprises in the mail? I have a certain little someone that has done all of that. She's amazingly sweet and I am so blessed to have her in my life. I recently purchased her a cute little 6 X 6 patterned paper pad and made her this little card just to let her know how much I appreciate her.

I know, patterned paper again, can you believe it?? She loves patterned paper and is really rubbing off on me ;)

a simple Mother's day project

Hi everyone! I know, I'm a little behind with this post, my calender is all screwed up but I'm slowly getting my act together. This post should have been last week and I didn't post a Tips & Tricks last Monday...I've been such a mess lately, I'll be so happy to get back on track!!

 

*GASP* can you believe Mother's Day is next weekend?!?! Holy cow, I don't even have a clue as to what to get my mom :S     I do however have a cute, fun and way easy project that you can make this weekend for your Mom (unfortunately mine wouldn't like it).

 

I've seen a little project all over Pinterest and filed it in the back of my mind because I just wasn't sure about it. Cute, yes, but would it actually work....not sure. When I decided I wanted to make a Mother's Day project for you this little project instantly came to mind. 

It was SUPER easy and guess what...IT WORKS GREAT!!! There's no difference between glass and a white board, it wipes off with just a tissue...who knew...I never even thought about something like that! I can't believe how cute this turned out. And the picture frame was way cheap; you can pick one up at your local dollar store.

 

I was originally going to use a piece of grey chevron patterned paper, but couldn't find any at my big box stores so I opted for stamping my own background instead. I'm glad I did, it turned out adorable. Who doesn't love DeNami's new houndstooth background stamp and you know how I feel about the teeny swiss dot!! I added some yummy houndstooh and floral washi tape to finish it all off.

 

For the outside I simply used some patterned paper and some DeNami red cardstock to die cut flowers and charcoal cardstock to die cut a couple of solid circles. I layered all of that with some fussy cut solid leaf vine and solid leaf sprig. I added a little piece of edge punched cardstock to hold the marker. Using foam tape and a little Chrystal lacquer I attached it all to the frame.

A Sweet New Friend

It's not very often that I will use a "contraband" stamp and even rarer that I show them here on the Addict Blog. But something captured my heart so I thought I'd share it with ya'll. Not so long ago I was was introduced to the sweetest little stamp company over on the Pretty Pink Posh blog, Paper Sweeties. I fell head over heels for their darling little designs. I knew right away that their designs would work beautifully with my DeNami stamps. Their stamps bring back memories of my childhood. I LOVED playing with paper dolls, I guess little girls now a days have no clue what they even are do they? The Paper Sweeties line carries a couple of different "dolls" along with fun accessories to dress them up in and for them to "play" with.

I started out with a white card base that I inked up a little added a layer of rose colored stock and then a white layer that I stamped using the Teeny Swiss Dot & the Mini Rosette. The pink layer was edge punched and I stamped the Teeny Heart Background with more Mini Rosettes (in versa mark). To finish it all off I stamped the sentiment on a fussy cut Elegant Oval Frame and added some pretty ribbons and a paper rose before adding the darling little girl all dressed up in her Easter dress (fussy cut from patterned paper). I love that this dress can be used for anytime of the year, not just Easter! Did you notice that she's holding a little cupcake from the Mini Sweet Treats petit four set?

 

I think this card came together rather well for my first attempt at using the Paper Sweeties stamps and I was right about them working so well with my MUCHO LOVED DeNami stamps! I can't wait to play with them a little more. :)

Lucky Horseshoes

I was playing around with my stamps and was struck with a fun idea. I wanted to make a lucky horseshoe card, however, I can't draw AT ALL so how the heck was I going to pull that off? After a little thinking I cam up with a VERY easy solution!  DUH...Google Images! Now I didn't want realistic horseshoes, I wanted something I could stamp, so I typed in "horseshoe + color book" and there you have it, tons of pictures to choose from. I chose a simple image and saved it to my computer in the my pictures file and then printed it off onto cardstock in the size I wanted. A little fussy cutting later and this is what I have....

 

Now, I really like this, but at the same time thought that maybe it was a tad "busy". With that in mind, I reprinted my image onto DeNami's charcoal cardstock and came up with this....

The Project Corner - Valentines Day

Hi everyone and welcome to The Project Corner. I'm a few days early with this post, but Valentines Day  creeped up on me pretty quickly and I really wanted you to see the cute kid friendly projects I came up with. I know that many of you have little ones at home and are always trying to find little projects for them. So today I have two cute and easy little Valentines Day projects for the kiddo's to make (with a little help of course).

This first one is super super easy....

I simply stamped the large butterfly and fussy cut it out. After it was colored (unfortunately I didn't have a kiddo handy to do this) I punched 2 holes and using a pipe cleaner, attached it to the sucker. I brought the pipe cleaner up and twisted it around the "head" of the butterfly and formed her little antenas. To finish it off just add some googly eyes and well-ah...a pretty little Valentine Butterfly perfect for Grandma, Daddy or even a teacher. *note: after your child colors the butterfly, have him/her write a message on the back.

This second project is a little bit more involved, but with a little help or if you have an older child, I think it can be managed perfectly. I actually made this for my hubby for our 22nd anniversary last fall but it can EASILY be made with a Valentine in mind. We are way cheesy and enjoy quirky little things like this....

I simply took two pieces of cardboard (one 8 1/2 X 11 and the other slightly larger - 9 X 11 1/2) and covered them with black cardstock (wrapping it around the edge and then placing a piece over it on the back side to cover the edges). I then stamped my panels (made slightly smaller than the 8 1/2 X 11 panel) and adhered them to the front cover (the smaller piece). As you can see, I simply found some fun images via Google and using the Word program on my computer made a fun and cheesy "story", but how fun would it be to fill your book with some drawings or coloring pages by your little one? *tip - go to google, click the images tab and then type in "coloring pages + Valentine" and it will give you loads of fun coloring book pages to print off for a fun afternoon of coloring enjoyment ;)* To finish it all off I simply punched some holes and bound my book using random twine & ribbons. I had such fun making this project and hubby LOVED it. This would even be a fun project for just about any theme...birthdays, Mothers Day, Fathers Day....

Here's a few cute images to get you started (click on them to enlarge then right click and choose "save picture as". Now you can go into your pictures file and simply print it to the size you choose.)

"Bee" Mine

Hi everyone. Today I have a little Valentines Day card to share with you that I made for my hubby. He loves honey bees....don't ask, I have no clue what the heck is wrong with that boy. ;)  He officially became a bee keeper last spring and is fully enjoying it. Me...well, not so much. I'm just not into bee's and getting stung...call me crazy! HAHAHA

For Christmas he started me a little charm bracelet and even bought me this little cutie to go on it because he says I'm his "Queen Bee". So for valentines I though I'd make him something with a cute little bee. I wanted to keep it simple so I dry embossed a honey comb pattern on the yellow panel then stamped the frame and sentiment on a white panel and filled it in by randomly stamping the brushed bee and swiss dot. Normally I would have added ribbon and glitter to really dress it up but since it is for my hubby I had to hold back. ;)

I'm finally organized...

With so much going on here on the DeNami Addict blog and the various challenges that I enter, I have to keep a calendar hung up near my desk where I can write down my ideas and deadlines. As I was making my Back to School hop project, I decided to finally take the time and make a little organizer for myself so that I can easily keep tabs on everything going on here on the blog.

Here's a little close up of the center...

It's all sparkly and girly...it's so me! I love the pastel colors and I used a lot of my favorite stamps. Now I have a place for calendar pages, my challenge line up, color palettes, sketches, themes and misc other things. I just love my little creation and know that I'm going to get a lot of use from it.  :)

CAS-ual Fridays - B&W + 1 & Addict color challenges

Wow, it feels like forever since I've entered a challenge...I'm having withdrawals! The arthritis in my neck that's causing a bulging  disc has been a real pain in the butt neck lately so I've been limiting my crafty time...sigh. Why can't I limit house cleaning, cooking,  laundry or even my day job...sigh, anything but crafty time! ;)

When I saw the theme for the current CAS-ual Friday challenge, I knew I just had to enter no matter what...I LOVE using black &  white. I also wanted to make another card for my color challenge right here on the Addict blog so I combined them!

It's a little hard to tell in the picture, but after I colored in the kitty's collar, I filled it in with magenta glitter. You know me and glitter...I just couldn't resist! This is a prime example as to why the quickie glue pen is a favorite tool of mine, tiny little areas and lines are no challenge at all! Do you recognize that little kitty?? Yes, it IS a DeNami stamp...I turned it into a silhouette!

Well this sure isn't a Christmas card...

I just love the new elegant images from the new release. When I received mine I wanted to challenge myself to use them on a non-Christmas card... 

I wanted it to be elegant, yet pop with color. I started with a black card base and added a layer of lime cardstock before topping it off with a white panel. After stamping the corner focal point I thought it still needed a little something. I have an issue with creating CAS and leaving all that open space...I'm just not one of those talented gals that can make it look right! The polka dots and rhinestones added just the right touch!

A great big THANK YOU

I'm only 41, but this point in my life I'm kind of an empty nester, my son is 22 and out and has been out on his on his own for 3 years now. I was feeling a bit lonely and my hubby thought it was the perfect time to purchase a new dog. We've always had a dog but our yellow lab had passed at the age of 16 back in 2009 and we just didn't have the heart to get a new puppy...it felt like I was trying to replace Che'. So, in the fall of 2010 hubby had enough of my being mopey and said it was time...needless to say, Moe is the light of my life these days. He's a great mix of Mommy's boy and Daddy's boy. He's a lover and likes to try to sleep snuggled up in my lap but rough & tumble enough to hang out with the guys (right down to rolling on a dead fish during a fishing trip with his Dad & Uncle not long ago...eeeewwww!).

 Wasn't he such a cutie???

Here's Moe today...

Now he's just a 110 pound cutie, lol. And yes, he does love sprucing up and showing off for the ladies with a little neckerchief. He has quite a collection. ;)

I'm sure ya'll are wondering where all this is going, right? Well, Moe recently had his 2nd birthday and we used the excuse to have a fun family get together. My sister-in-law, Robyn, is exceptionally thoughtful and always doing wonderful things...this was no exception, she brought Moe some wrapped birthday presents! How fun is she? He loves his new toys and treats and what better excuse do you need than to get a little crafty time in...we have to have a thank you card after all, right?

Here's what I created...

I just couldn't resist going with a puppy theme. DeNami's puppy and paw print are perfect! When I started making this card I originally started stamping the white panel in bright reds, yellows and blues. Funny how your card can do such a dramatic change right in the middle of making it. I'm really happy with the more subdued colors and softness of it over all.

Pink Poodle

Hello everyone!

Today I have another little creation to enter in the CAS-UAL Friday challenge...Let's Strip.

I came up with the idea of using fringe as a little border, but alas, I have no "cowboy" stamps. I'm thinking Nami needs to make a cowboy chickie, how cute would that be?!?!?! Anyhow, I didn't want to give up on my fringe idea, so I came up with doing something girlie and am calling my cowboy fringe a little fringe skirt instead, lol!

I made the strips the hard way...with my paper trimmer. I wanted them to be perfectly even so I had no choice. (You should have seen it when I tried it free handed...what a disaster!) I topped it off with a little punched edge and ribbon treatment. I just love that little poodle from the Playful Puppies set...isn't she adorable? How can you just not want to color her in in pink?

It's July...do ya know what that means?

Well, for me, it means LOTS of birthdays! I have 6 in July...but there are 3 in particular that are super special, our very own Wendy, Paulina from DeNami and of course, ME! ;)

Do ya'll remember way back in March, DeNami Design had a really fun birthday themed blog hop? Well, I had my card all ready to go and then they went and came out with the new spring line of stamps...I simply HAD to make a new card for the hop using the wonderful new line of stamps. I mean seriously, have you seen anything cuter than that cupcake chickie???

Anyway, here's the card I had originally made....I finally am getting around to showing it to ya'll! I stamped the presents, then fussy cut the whole edge and then colored any white edges that still showed blue to match the inside strip.

To give it a a lot of dimension, I stamped and fussy cut several more presents and attached them with foam tape. The yellow panel with the fun blue strip is actually on the inside!

Here's a look at it fully open so that you don't see the inside of the card...

It was hard coming up with a way to photograph it so that you get the feel of how the whole edge is fussy cut so that you can actually see the inside edge of the card when it's closed....I think I managed, well, I hope I did anyway. ;)
