Jo's Scrap Shack FFC - hello

Heya everyone and welcome to another FUN FRIDAY Challenge over at Jo's Scrap Shack!! I hope you got to play along in last weeks sketch challenge. This week we have a theme VS. a sketch....

Challenge Rules: Use Florals
This challenge starts: Friday, February 28th at 12AM
ends:  Friday, March 7th at 6:pm
                                     (central time)

This week we are being brought to you by Bugaboo Stamps and Limited Runs.

For my card I used the "Hello Doodle" digi stamp from Limited Runs. Did you notice that wonderful coloring job...I can not take credit for that. A lot of their digi stamps come in both uncolored and precolored!! I know a lot of you ladies HATE to have to color so this is a wonderful option for you all. I simply printed out my image on my regular ole home printer onto Recollections (Michaels brand) white cardstock. After I punched the image out using my scallop circle punch I noticed that I had a white border at the top and bottom since the image didn't reach those areas. I found a super simple fix, I got out my chalks and a cotton ball and filled in the white areas. You can see that the blue and green I used was a little lighter but that just lends to the overall shading effect. I'm very pleased with the way this turned out :)

So stop by Jo's scrap shack for all the deets and to enter to win some fun prizes. remember, there is always a random selected winner picked so that everyone has a chance!!

Praying For You....

Hi everyone. I have a little something that I'd like to chat about today. As a woman in the workforce I talk to quite a few people on a daily basis and there are some that I talk to time and again. Even though I never meet these people face to face, I work closely with some of them. In doing that you can't help but get to know them and come to  think of them as more than a stranger. they aren't quite a "friend" but they aren't a stranger either...does acquaintance work in these matters? Well, no matter what title we give these types of people, they are in our lives and we can't help but feel bad when something catastrophic happens, like loosing a loved one.

There is someone that I email with quite a bit and honestly she makes me want to pull my hair out. I'm pretty dang efficient at what I do and always try my best to have done what needs to be done so that there are never any ripples in the water so to say. In professional settings, us secretary types have sort of an unwritten rule that we all get along, chit chat among ourselves and try to help each other out. For example if I'm dealing with another company and the gal I'm dealing with is unsure of something I help her out as much as possible and show/tell her exactly what's expected and how to do it if need be. The someone that I'm talking about really doesn't play by those rules so sometimes getting things done on my end are extremely difficult. With that being said, she probably is genuinely a nice person and just is strictly all business which is a good quality to have in an employee. I recently called her because of some late paperwork on their end and learned that there was a death in her immediate family...how as a human being can my heart not go out to this woman? I won't pretend to know how she feels as we all feel and grieve differently but at the same time, as someone she "knows", I want her to know that she is in my prayers and that I'm thinking of her. After much deliberation with my inner self, I decided I would do what us card makers do best, send a card.

I wanted to make something elegant but basic and clean at the same time. I browsed Pinterest for a little inspiration then pulled out a couple of older DeNami stamps and came up with this...

I just love how this card turned out. I started out with a tall folded A2 sized card base in white. I cut a smaller white panel and stamped my sentiment in the lower right hand corner then ran it through a pretty dry embossing folder and popped it onto the card base with foam tape. For my main focal panel I started out with another white panel in the size I thought was needed. I first stamped one of the flowers from the Small Flower Spray in a grey Momento ink 3 times, then using black Momento ink I stamped the Small Spring Flowers border stamp over it 3 times across the panel to make the little border fill out the bottom. I backed this white panel with a piece of black cardstock leaving a very narrow border then layered that onto a piece of charcoal cardstock that I had previously edge punched with a pretty little pattern. I finished it all off with a piece of narrow ribbon and 3 little black gemstones.

Well that's all for me today. Well, wait, not exactly, lol. There is one more thing...lately I know I haven't exactly been showcasing many DeNami stamps...not really living up to the blogs name am I? I feel like that in the pursuit of my dreams I've let y'all down a little and for that I am truly sorry. I LOVE being on my Design Teams, however, they do take a lot of time to keep up with and take up posting time that I could have used for DeNami inspired cards and projects, but I promise that I'm working on this balancing act and vow to post some yummy DeNami a little more often than what I have been doing!! (hugs) I how y'all have a wonderful day!

The Shabby Tea Room - Challenge #207 - Washi Tape

Hi everyone and welcome to another fun week over at The Shabby tea Room! This week we are playing with Washi!!! Washi tape is so fun and versatile because you can use it as a fun accent, in place of ribbon , as a little flag just to name a few...just so many uses for craft and home decor projects!!!

 Challenge rules: use Washi Tape

Here's what I made, can you spot the 2 Washi Tapes I used???

I started off with a black cardbase then added a little paper from a 6 X 6 paper pad along with some digital paper ( the punched music border, large cream piece at the bottom with the swirl and the "alphabet buttons") from this weeks sponsor and then added some yummy grey scale colored Washi above the lace and at the bottom of the card. Using a masking technique I made the little flags from DeNami Designs "Thinking of You" sentiment from the All Occasion stamp set.

This week is being sponsored by Digital papers by Janet on Etsy. I could browse through that etsy shop all day...soooo many wonderful images that I'm dying to have...sigh!...she has everything from fun and cute to vintage and beautiful images. Make sure you enter this weeks challenge to have a chance to win some images of your choice :)

Jo's Scrap Shack FFC - Special Friend

Hello everyone and welcome to my very first posting/design as a Design Team Member at Jo's Scrap Shack!! If you aren't familiar with this fun little place let me fill you in!! Every Friday (@ 3pm eastern) there is a new challenge that is sponsored by some awesome companies. The winners are always picked randomly so EVERYONE has a chance at winning...not just the same ole names time after time like on some challenge blogs. What I'll be doing as a Design Team Member is using the particular weeks sponsors products to make a project that fits the weeks theme. I'm excited to be able to bring this little challenge to you and to be able to introduce you to some really awesome companies that you may have never heard of!!

Lets get started with this weeks theme: It's a sketch challenge!!
What a cute little sketch and sooo easy to work with :)

Here's my take on the sketch, a cute but super fast and easy layout for those cards you need in a jiffy...

I haven't made a square card in ages, this one is 4 1/4 X 4 1/4. I made the base from chocolate cardstock (all images were printed onto a piece of white cardstock) then layered on some super cute papers (digital also) from the sponsor, The Stamping Chef. All of these papers came from a little set called "I'm Me" that included solids, floral and decorative as well as the darling stripes and polka dot that I used here. I LOVE this set of papers because they match so perfectly that there's no way to go wrong mixing and matching them...plus since they're digital I can print them out how ever many times I'd like!! To finish it all up I added one of the wonderful sentiments from 3 Twenty Crafts brand new release that became available yesterday called Simple Sentiments.

Well that's it for me today, I hope you can join us for the challenge. Remember, it starts at 3pm eastern time and you have a chance to win some wonderful paper or images from The Stamping Chef!!

Did you have a chance to join me and the other Design Team Gals from 3 twenty Crafts for the new release blog hop over the past 4 days? Well, as a special surprise a few of us are showcasing a special set with a mini blog hop on Sunday at 3pm eastern time...make sure you stop in for a chance to win the set :)

PS: just a reminder that we are currently looking for Design team members over at The Shabby Tea Room (your style need not be shabby!). If you're interested, here's where you can find all the info...The Shabby tea Room DT call

This stamp set also coordinates with Project Life and Smash Books, but like the other set we previously showed on day 2, I took it a step further and want to show you how I used it on cards. This little set is like a check list (for OCD gals like myself it's going to come in handy...hehehe). It comes with a little "check list" note and lots of fun sentiments to use with it....
here I used the little note frame and added 2 of the sentiments to make a valentine for my hubby

after making the 1st card I was still in a Valentine mood and threw this little card together. I punched a bunch of chevrons and glued them to the front of the card adding one of the sentiments from the stamp set randomly all over then added a big fluffy bow

This set includes everything from New Years resolutions to Christmas wish lists and everything in between like birthdays, goals and even invitations along with a full set of numbers for making dates and numbering your lists! Your imagination can sure soar with this fun little set!!

3 Twenty Crafts - day 3 blog hop - "say it from the heart"

3 twenty Crafts blog hop - one new design featured everyday 2/17 - 2/20 at 3pm eastern

Welcome to day 3 of the 3 Twenty Crafts 2nd Release! You should have arrived here from Tina C'c blog but if you would like to start at the beginning of the hop, simply go to Jo's Scrap Shack.

Today we are showing you the new and awesome stamp set “Say it from the Heart”.. This set is AMAZING and may just be my fave off all the sets in the new release. It comes with 6 double sentiments...meaning you have a  sentiment for the front of the card then a matching sentiment to finish what you're saying for the inside of the card!! That's something I always struggle with...what to write on the inside, and this set takes care of that for me!! It also comes with some fun and versatile shapes. Here's what I created using this new stamp set:
I decided to make a fun one layer card using 2 sixes of a hexagon included in this set

For this card I wanted to go with something soft and pretty - I stamped and fussy cut one of the fancier hexagons and added the "interior" sentiment on the front of the card

I'm your last stop today,  I hope you had a great time visiting my Design Team sisters...they've
really created some gorgeous projects that will surely inspire you!!

To win today’s stamp set “Say it from the Heart”, make sure you stop at each blog along the hop, become a follower and leave a comment. 3 Twenty Crafts - day 2 blog hop - "Strike A Pose"

3 twenty Crafts blog hop - one new design featured everyday 2/17 - 2/20 at 3pm eastern

Welcome to day 2 of the 3 Twenty Crafts 2nd Release! You should have arrived here from Tina C's blog but if you would like to start at the beginning of the hop, simply go to Jo's Scrap Shack.

Today we are showing you the new and awesome stamp set “Strike a Pose” This stamp set coordinates with Project Life and Smash Books, but I'm going to show you how fun it is for cards too!! Retro looking polaroids are all the rage and so fun to play with plus this little set comes with a variety of fun sentiments! You can make a scene or you can fill them in with something chic and fun as I've done in these two examples...
the trees are from the 3 twenty Crafts previously released Winter Wonderland set - I used the "snow" area as a shadow line so it could be spring or summer time :)

after stamping and cutting out the poloroid on patterned paper I attached it to a piece of cream cardstock and filled it in with a rub on sticker set I had in my stash then simply added all 3 to chocolate card base

I'm your last stop today,  I hope you had a great time visiting my Design Team sisters...they've really created  some gorgeous projects that will surely inspire you!!

3 Twenty Crafts blog hop - day 1 -"simple sentiments"

3 twenty Crafts blog hop - one new design featured everyday 2/17 - 2/20 at 3pm eastern

Welcome to the 3 Twenty Crafts 2nd Release Blog Hop! This week we have a ton of inspiration to share with you, lots of amazing projects showcasing the new stamp releases and some giveaways too! You will be so amazed with this new release and I am excited to share the first stamp set with you today! So are you ready to get started? You should have arrived here from Tina C's blog but if you would like to start at the beginning of the hop, simply go to Jo's Scrap Shack.

Today we are showing you the new and awesome stamp set “Simple Sentiments”. I wanted to show you a couple of different ways to use this very versatile set....now these sentiments have a little line before and after them (see the 3rd picture) but with just a little masking or gemstones, you can really change up the whole sentiment!!
for this one I simply added gemstones along the little lines

for this card I stamped the "line part" of the sentiment all along the tag then stamped the actual sentiment part seperately

for my last card I left the sentiment "as is"

What a fun set, right??? It includes 8 sentiments:
  • celebrate you
  • thinking of you
  • happy anniversary
  • special friend
  • happy birthday
  • just because
  • with sympathy
  • thank you

The Shabby Tea Room - baby Love

Hi everyone, how are you on this Monday...yuck...I hate Mondays!! My weekend went by WAY too fast and Monday means back to work. Why didn't I marry for money ;) hehehe!

Anyway, today I have a special surprise, I will be having 2 posts today. This regularly scheduled post for The Shabby Tea Room AND a blog hop for a newish company I'm designing for called 3 Twenty Crafts that starts at 3:pm eastern time. Hope ya'll come back by for a visit :)

Now then, this weeks challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room is soooo fun!! The theme is baby shower.
How pretty is this little inspiration picture?? just one rule...make a card or project with a baby theme!

Our sponsor is Creations By AR...yes, lol, I am on her Design Team too...how fun is that??? As soon as I heard this weeks theme I knew exactly which template I wanted to work with...Lil' Bear.

Creations by AR: Lil' Bear
Paper Sweeties: Cupcakes & Sprinkles, Sending Sweet Thoughts
DeNami Design: teeny star, polka dot background, all star greetingsouter space stamp set

This little template is ment to be a non openable card...just a little bear with a stamped sentiment on the bib, however, I took it a spet further and cut out 2 bears for each one and made it into an openable card....
I scored the 2nd bear I cut from plain card stock just under the ears and attached it with my ATG tape runner then stamped another sentiment inside. Now their ready for my little twin nephew & niece that will be turning 2 right away :)

Creations by AR is all about paper crafting specializing in 3D templates, cutting files and digital images. Visit Creations by AR for inspiration!

I am pleased to offer The Shabby Tea Room participants a challenge discount of 10% off entire purchase during the week of my sponsorship.  The discount code is challenge10.

little valentine class...

For those of you that don't know, last December I was asked to start teaching card making classes by the owner of a darling little shop in my area called The Stamp Pad. My first class was on making gift card holders since it was right before Christmas. My next class was week before last so I decided to concentrate on Valentines Day. Here are the cards I made up for that class....

I can't believe that I FORGOT to take pictures of my creations!!! I had to go to the shops Facebook page and get them, lol...what a dummy I am!!!

I love the way they all turned out and I had wonderful feedback from the class.  That makes my heart swell with joy! :)  I wish I could use some yummy DeNami or Paper Sweeties stamps but I have to use items the store carries. Thinking my next class is going to go interactive...maybe a waterfall card and a shaker card to start with...sounds fun!

Elegant Birthday Card...

Today I have what I'm going to label an elegant card. Not so sure if it's elegant, but it is pretty. As ya'll know, I have a love an obsession for those gorgeous 6X6 pads of patterned paper. The reason I find them so perfect is that I don't have to sit there and wonder if the colors and patterns I'm mixing really work together or just look retarded. Honestly, I used to spend soooo much time doing that that it was pathetic!! The little pads of patterned paper has already done the work for me, what's not to love about that????

I needed to make a birthday card for my Mother. She's not into bright colors or bold patterns so I pulled out a little 6X6 pad that's chocked full of darker papers along with some light & medium colors that coordinate so well together and are perfect for her tastes.

This layout was super simple -  a light colored card base, layer a piece of large patterned pattern paper, layer a wide strip of cardstock, punch a coordinating smaller patterned piece of patterned paper on both long edges and layer on the cardstock strip then embellish however you want. I thought the elegant word plate was perfect for the look I was trying to capture and Nami's writing is sooooo pretty and perfect for my sentiment. I added some pearl and lace trim that a sweet friend had sent me along with yummy seam binding from Paper Sweeties and finished it all off with a little twine and a rose button. Thinking I'll revisit this layout again, it really worked out well. :)

Creations By AR - Feb 2014 blog hop - "It's all about baby"

Hi everyone! Are you ready for another fun hop showing off all the new pretty templates at Creations By AR?? I have to admit that I don't know a soul that's having a baby!! How disappointing, right? Well I still had a wonderful time making these cute little templates...who needs a new baby to make some cute little goodies like these???

There are 3 templates in total and the best part...YOU get to choose weather you want to make them for a boy or girl...how cool is that?? Let's get started showing you what I made....

How cute is this little bag??? I just love this little template and it was SUPER easy to boot! If you choose to make it for a girl you cut out a little collar along with puffy sleeves and it has a rocking horse option vs. the little pocket. I cut 2 pockets (stamped with a polka dot background) so I could have a little one (well, half of one, lol) on the pants leg for a cargo jumper look. Then I added some cute little stars, buttons and a DeNami Design sentiment to finish it all off.

"Rockin' Horse Card"
And how cute is this little rocking horse card?? So many options here too since the mane, tail and body are all separate so that you can easily use several papers. Best part...I only used pieces of scrap to make him!!!

"Rockin' Cradle"
This last template is perfect for taking a little treat to Mom in the hospital / when she gets home or as a table decoration for a shower....just fill it with candy or some little booties. I chose to make mine from plain cardstock with a couple of pieces of patterned paper accents so that I could use one of my favorite DeNami Design stamps to decorate it with.

Tina Milbourn <------------- you are here

Well that's it for me today. Now don't forget to hop along with the other designers and leave comments so that you can have a chance to win any one of the three sets! Also, as a little bonus if you'd like to purchase all 3 templates there is a little discount! You can get the baby bundle for only $12.00.

This week's lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate from Paper Temptress!

This week is changed up a little, instead if an inspiration picture, we have a fun sketch :)
Challenge rules: make a project based on the sketch
What a fun little sketch! I thought it was perfect to pair up with the Paper Sweeties "You Are" stamp set because besides the fun sentiments, it has a darling large flower box filled with not only flowers but pretty swirls for greenery!

I started off with some blue card stock for my card base (Paper Temptress has what's called "base weight" card stock in a ton of colors) then added lots of floral patterned paper from a pretty 6 X 6 paper pad. I added a bit of lace, seem binding from paper Sweeties and a few roses to finish it all off.

Well that's it for me today. I sure hope you enter this weeks challenge and don't forget to check out Paper Temptress for some great card stock at great prices!

Okay then, let's get started :)  You should have arrived here from the very talented Greta Hess' blog. If not, no worries, hop on over to the DeNami blog for the full list of participants!

Ready to see what I made????
For my first card I thought I'd go with a traditional way of using polka dots and brought out my beloved and coveted polka dot background stamp...yeah, like y'all thought I wouldn't right, hehehehe! ;) Poor stamp is about worn down to a nub at this point, lol! I paired it up with the pretty rosette and a brand new sentiment. This card was SUPER easy to make and comes together very quickly...a must have layout in anyone's collection for any occasion.

Now this card I decided to change up and show y'all how to use polka dots in a totally different way and boy are there a LOT of polka dots. I used an embossing folder to create a subtle polka dot background. Then on a strip of card stock I randomly stamped the little pansy cluster from the new summer flower accent set (love the little polka dots mixed in the flowers) then filled in the rest of the strip with the new small pansy. I finished off this polka dot extravaganza with 3 little butterflies made up out of tiny little polka dots from the darling decorative butterflies stamp set. The sentiment I used came from my fave set...all occasion sentiment set.

Well, that's it for me. Now off you go to visit with an uberly talented gal, Pattie Goldman. Hope you have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow with a fun new challenge for The Shabby Tea Room!

You're a deer....

Hi everyone :)   *gasp* I just noticed that I forgot to schedule anything for this past Wednesday...where the heck is my head at these days?!?!?!? I'm sorry about that!! And here I was so excited to bring this little qutie to the blog...sigh! I'm just over the top happy because I FINALLY got to play with my new DeNami images!!! (insert happy dance!)

I just HAD to use the darling little fawn first, I couldn't wait to pull him/her out and work some magic...

Okay, well, maybe "magic" wasn't what I worked, lol, but it is cute ;)

I almost didn't make this little card. I knew that I HAD to have large polka dot paper, however, I wanted it to look "vintagey" so that meant no white, I had to use creams. I got to looking through all of my stash and I only had pink with bright white polka dots...that just wasn't going to work out very well. 2 colors of distress ink later and I had the perfect colored polka dot paper for my card! After distressing the patterned paper I went ahead and distressed my die cut doily, punched circles and the little cut outs so that everything matched nicely.

I hope you like my first card with the new images from DeNami! Ohh, I forgot to tell you that they have the perfect sentiment for the fawn "You're A Deer"! I stamped that on the inside :)

I'll see y'all right back here on Sunday for the latest DeNami Blog Hop...it's all about polka dots this month!!!! :)

The Shabby Tea Room - All that glitters in Love #204

I just love playing with Paper Sweeties stamps and am excited that they are this weeks sponsor for the new The Shabby Tea Room challenge!!!

Challenge details: INCLUDE PINK/RED/BURGUNDY, FLOWERS, HEARTS & GLITTER!

I wanted to keep it simple and bright....
I paired up little Abigail (used her die to cut her out) and the outfit from Warm Winter Wishes with some cute patterned paper, a pink doily and matching cardstocks and came up with this fun and bright little card that's perfect for my little niece.
