I just wanted to pop in with a little card I made up over the weekend for a challenge over at Retro Sketches. If you have been following me for very long, you know I puffy heart making and using sketches! This little challenge site was brought to my attention recently and I'm excited as I can be!!

velum cherry blossoms

I was thumbing through a Papercrafts magazine (it was the recent one on tools) and came across a card that just...I don't know, just spoke to me. Has that ever happened to you? It sounds a little crazy doesn't it, lol. But I just fell in love with it and couldn't wait to make my own version.

And now the current Lawnscaping challenge gave me the perfect opportunity!

Here's what I came up with and there is a ton of heat embossing both under and on velum....
I started off with that gorgeous iridescent aquamarine cardstock. I know it's thin, but with the layers on the front and the layers I put on the inside (a black panel with a white panel on top) it's plenty stable. I started off making the card base and added a black and iridescent pearl panel. On a piece of velum I heat embossed some butterflies and a small grouping of cherry blossoms then fussy cut them all out. On a panel of velum I heat embossed more cherry blossoms across the left half. Using a Tombow marker, I added a little color to all of the flowers. I placed the fussy cut flowers and a few butterflies on the Iridescent Pearl panel, then, after inking the edges of the velum panel, I wrapped the grosgrain ribbon and adhered it. To finish it all off I added the remaining butterflies and a flat bow.

Don't forget that we are now doing a monthly challenge right here on DeNami Addict. This months theme is "garden" and you don't have to use a DeNami product if you don't have one. Just click the link on our sidebar for all the info.

If you'd like to be featured, just grab our blinkie (code is under the blinkie tab) and let us know. Today we welcome Greta, from GG Creations. She recently started her blog and has started joining in on the DeNami Design blog hops. We'd LOVE to add all of you as a friend so be sure to grab our blinkie!!

Did you get a chance to check out our very own challenge here at DeNami Addict?? The theme is "garden" and you don't have to use a DeNami product. We'd LOVE for you to enter and have a chance at a great prize!! Submissions are due by June 11 at 11:59pm pst.

Last but not least....
I have kind of a long story for you that leads up to todays card...I was playing with the new gusseted bags that DeNami Design has started carrying and came up with what I thought was a cool idea. Paulina, from DeNami is so amazing and inspiring that I immediately thought of her weekly tutorials and how one of her uberly talented design team members could surly do one on this cute little project. I took some pictures and sent an e-mail. I was just so happy that she loved it. I told her she was welcome to the idea and that I was sure a team member would do a great job. Never in my life did I think for a minute that she'd use exactly what I had made and put my name all over it!! I'm so dang flattered, amazed and humbled! Paulina posted my little tutorial this past Friday, I hope you had a chance to visit the DeNami blog and check it out. There is so much inspiration and trendy fun on their blog that I make it a priority to visit every morning!
Wire tied treat bags
Well, I decided that I couldn't have a cute little treat bag and not have a matching card....
This is my first attempt at a ruffled ribbon...it's harder than I thought! I guess I don't have the gene that allows me to be random! I ended up redoing it several times before I got so frustrated I finally gave in, lol. I just can't get enough of DeNami's new butterfly collection. Aren't they just simply YUMMY???

I want to send a HUGE thank you to Paulina & everyone over at DeNami Design and to the commenters for the love I received with my tutorial. Here it is several days later and I'm still just so overwhelmed!! Don't forget that they have a tutorial almost every Friday...I can't wait to see what the talented Design Team comes up with next!

chilly chickies

Ohh my goodness, this past weekend went by way to fast. I was busy busy busy, but did manage to make a little card that I had been wanting to make for the on going sketch challenge over on the DeNami blog.
I was excited to use my new love, strawberry freeze iridescent cardstock! Also I am finally using the new ice cream cone that I just hadn't gotten around to pulling out....
I was going to add a little ribbon tab on the side with a colored staple, but changed my mind. I just couldn't resist using those adorable ice cream scooped chickies. I mixed old with new for my background also...decorative borders 1 and the mini cherries.

Did you notice all of the texture on the cone itself? After fussy cutting it, I ran it through a crimper then added the champagne glitter. Speaking of glitter, did you see how glitter-tastic my cherry is? I have to give credit to Paulina Nakamura for my button treatment. I've seen her layer her buttons and have been waiting for just the right card to come along!! I just love, love, love the effect!

Garden Challenge Inspiration

So...in honor of the current Garden Challenge  we have in progress here at DeNami Addicts (Have you entered yet? You haven't? Well you should 'cause the prize is just simply AWESOME...just sayin' - so go ahead, click the link so you can get the details.  Got 'em? - so you are gonna enter - yes?),  I couldn't help but pull out my ol' faithful daisy stamps.  Y'all know how much I *heart* those stamps.  I decided to take a little of the old and add it to the new and came up with this little number....

And you know anytime I use a flower stamp - the little teeny lady bug tends to make an appearance.  I am nothing if not predictable - HA!  So go enter (if you haven't already) Tina and I simply can't wait to see what Garden Ideas you come up with!

Thanks for stopping by,
Wendy

Pretty Pastels Blog Hop

It's that time again, time for the Denami Blog Hop and this time the theme is Pastels....actually PRETTY PASTELS to be exact - and really when are pastels not pretty.

If you are following the hop in order, then you should have arrived here from the talented Andrea Matthews.  For this hop I decided to pull out one of the chickies from the newest release.  I haven't had a opportunity to use this little cutie so I thought it was about time (or it could be at the time I was making my card I was dragging and sort of jonsing for a cup of java).

I used the CL-C91 (Coffee Cup Chickie), PF09 Espresso Petit Four Set, TR12 Sweet Treat Block Set, and the Hello stamp from the PF26 Assorted Greetings set.  And of course I had to add a little glitter to the chickie.

Now comes the fun part (as if getting loads of eye candy from the hop wasn't enough), Comments - we as blogger always love comments but when it comes to the hop you can love comments too - because Denami is giving away 2 - yes 2 - $20 gift certificates to random commenters on the hop! Woot!  So leave me comment love and who knows....you may get some back!

Now to continue along the hop - next up is Pam Wendt.  Can't wait to see what she has for us today.  Happy Hopping!
