Happy 2nd Birthday Paper Sweeties!!!

Hello everyone and welcome to a very special celebration that I'm honored to be a part of! Today we are celebrating Paper Sweeties' 2nd birthday!! My friend, the owner of Paper Sweeties, Debbie Marcinkiewize has really lived up to the challenge of starting a little stamp company!

Paper Sweeties currently have over 120 stamp sets with around a dozen coordinating die sets, along with sequins, baker's twine, paper straws, seam binding and rusty bells in their boutique! The customer service couldn't be more phenomenal and she loves hearing from you, the customer! She also loves to hear your suggestions concerning new stamp sets so don't hesitate to contact her with a little wish list of ideas!

To celebrate this wonderful accomplishment, Paper Sweeties is having a little blog hop. For our inspiration / theme, we are making birthday cards / projects using the brand new Paper Sweeties challenge theme for August!

Pink, blue and green...fun colors! Who can resist a fun party with trendy banners? Not me so I made a little gift bag with matching shaker card to help celebrate! I picked up both the birthday theme - complete with banners, and the colors from the inspiration picture. However, I changed up the brightness of those colors a bit by using vibrant pinks, a teal-ish blue and a little hint of a lime green.

I used 3 stamp sets to create my little projects:
I also used cupped flower shaped sequins (I added a drop of Stickles to the centers of them for even more blingyness) from Paper Sweeties:

Well, as I mentioned earlier, there's plenty more to see in this fun blog hop. Here is a full list of participants...

Dropping you a line

Hi everyone, I just wanted to stop in today with a cute little card I made as a sample for the local stamp shop I teach at...

I just can't get enough of this cute little fishie!! I added a little colored 3D Crystal Lacquer to the fish hooks and a TON of DeNami glitter, citrone, champange, extra fine (clear) & blue ice. One can never have enough glitter in my opinion ;)

Hope y'all have a GREAT day!! See ya on Friday!

Hi everyone! Right now it's late Sunday evening and because I totally screwed up I'm just now writing this post AND trying to edit a picture if my card all on my phone...sigh. But I have work to do so my phone it is! I'll try to clean this all up Monday when I get access to a computer.

an easy layout - revisited

Happy Friday everyone!!! I'm excited today...I plan on just relaxing this weekend and having no pressure to do anything or be anywhere...sigh, perfect! Hopefully that happens ;)   It is my birthday, I deserve a little peace, right?

Today I want to share another version of Wednesday's card. I mentioned that you can really change up that layout while still keeping it fairly simply and fast to put together. Again, this one took just over 10 minutes to create.
I started with an A2 card base in black then layered on a red panel and then more black that I had dry embossed. for my focal panel I stamped DeNami's Cherry Blossom Garland on a white panel and colored with Copics. I layered it on a red panel that I edge punched and added some black twine before popping it up with foam tape on the card base. Again, easy peasy and quick to make in a hurry. Since I didn't add a sentiment to the front and kept the colors classic, this card can be used for just about any occasion.

Well that's it for me today. I'm off to go find something yummy to munch on and tell my hubby that I'm on "stay-cation" for the whole weekend and that he better decide where his dinners are coming from because I'm not even cooking! ;) Have a great weekend and I'll see ya right back here on Monday!

Cozy Kitties

I'd like to take a minute to thank all of you again for helping to celebrate the blogs birthday! 3 years...can you believe it, I sure can't, my how time has flown!!! This weekend I get to celebrate my birthday...hmmm, maybe at my age I should just stop them all together, lol! My hubby is excited because for the next 6 months he can tell everyone that he has "an older woman", he's so goofy!

Let's get on with today's post shall we? I was playing with a little stamp set by Newton's Nook for the little local shop where I teach and came up with a cute little card. I liked it so much I had to make another one just like it to send to a little someone for their birthday.

Who doesn't like a pair of adorable little kitties...especially ones that don't shed, lol! I swear mine should be bald at this point but the hair just keeps coming!! I've used this little layout a million times and never get tired of it. I've even featured it in one of my videos. You can add a patterned paper panel, a contrast panel under your focal panel, ribbon VS twine...lots of ways to change it up a bit but the main thing is that it's easy and really fast to put together when you need a card in a hurry!

For this card I started off with an orange-ish yellow colored piece of cardstock to form an A2 sized base and using one of my newest obsessions, Hero Arts Shadow Inks, stamped my own patterned background using some of the "extras" in the stamp set. I then made my focal panel by stamping the kitties and coloring them with Copics, adding faux stitch lines, sentiment and twine. I popped this p with foam take on the card front. Easy peay and took 10 minutes...you can't go wrong there can you?

Well that's it for me today, I'll see ya back here on Friday!!

The Shabby Tea Room Challenge #228

Good morning everyone! It's Monday so that means another fun challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room!

This week we have a beautiful little inspiration picture for you....
The rules this week are for you to INCLUDE: lace & flowers

I just loved the colors of this picture and picked up on that for my card.
I've had that patterned paper with the doilies for a while now and was waiting for just the right card...I think I found it!! ;) I paired it with the pretty little silhouette from Bugaboo Stamps and my favorite sentiment, of course it's from DeNami Design, lol.

As if raising five children in the frozen land of the North was not enough of a challenge, Jodie Mackrell decided to dip her cold little Canadian toes into the world of papercrafting by opening an online store full of her illustrations. That was two years ago. Today Bugaboo Stamps is one of the leading companies in digital images, and we're still growing!  From seriously snarky to sugary sweet to sublimely soulful all the way over to the other side of the super sexy spectrum, you're bound to find all that you need and more to create your paper projects.  Jodie works very hard to provide New Releases and Freebies every week!

If your taste runs to rubber (and you know who you are), you can find Bugaboo Stamps stamps at Totally Stampalicious. And finally, join the Bugaboo Stamps DT  for weekly challenges at Catch the Bug.

Summer Flowers & Our birthday drawing winner!

Hi everyone and HAPPY FRIDAY!!! This week went by kinda fast for me...and that's a GOOD thing, lol! I am sooo ready for the weekend :)

Last week I showed you a little card that I entered into a few challenges with and I loved the way it turned out so much that I thought I'd re-visit the layout.

This time around I decided to change up a few things and ya know, I'm still very happy with the results! Besides changing the colors, I dry embossed the large panel (cloudy sky) then using chalk made an hombre effect (lighter at the top and getting darker as I moved down the panel), used a different DeNami Design flower stamp (dahliaand instead of twine I added a pretty sheer bow.

Well, I must thank you all for your support of my little blog and all of the love that I feel from your wonderful comments! YOU are why I work so hard in keeping up with this little blog! To celebrate the 3rd birthday of this little adventure that I'm on I thought it would be fun to do a give a way. I asked that you like the DeNami Addict Face Book page and leave a comment here on the blog stating you do and a 2nd comment stating what you love about DeNami...2 chances to win the random drawing!!

Using random.org I picked a lucky winner for a $50 DeNami Design gift certificate.....
Congratulations Denise Bryant!!!

The Shabby Tearoom challenge #227

Hello everyone and welcome to another fun week at The Shabby Tearoom!!! Are you ready for another challenge? This one is FULL of summer fun...

This inspiration picture is just too cute!! Love the fun colors and the little girl is adorable. :)   Here are this weeks rules: summer theme, include at least three colors from the photo and one or more of these items:  vellum, polka dots, ribbon!

I chose a darling little flip flop card from our sponsor, The Cutting Cafe.

I picked up the orange and pink from the umbrella and the brown from the little girls hair. No other summer color palette speaks to me quite like orange and pink together. Sometimes I throw in a splash of lime or teal for a little pop but I sure do love mixing orange and pink!! I started out with a deep hot pink patterned paper (if you look close you can see the swirls on the patterned paper) then overlayed a piece of polka dot vellum on it to tone it down a bit. I added the flip flop strap then embellished it with some fun sequins and a paper flower. I added a little sentiment flag with twine to finish it all off.
I even added a little panel to the inside so that I can write or stamp a little message. This little card is offered in several different formats (you will receive all of them) for different cutting machines but since this is such a simple shape I just printed off the one in a PDF and cut it all out by hand...easy peasy!

As I mentioned earlier, this weeks sponsor is The Cutting Cafe!

The Cutting Cafe is your one stop for affordable cutting files and printable stamps. We offer a huge selections on just about any occasion.

This week's lucky winner will receive three cutting files from The Cutting Cafe!

Please link your creations to The Shabby Tea Room by Sunday, July 20th to play along. Winner and Tea Time Terrific Top Three will be announced Monday, July 21st. We will have an all-new challenge for you to play along with on the 21st as well, so please come back and visit with us again for another chance to win!

Happy Birthday Paulina!!!!

Happy Friday everyone! It's been a long week for me and it isn't quite over yet...I'm teaching a card making class tomorrow but at least it's fun to do, not like my actual job! I love the card classes :)

Today I have a fun little birthday card that I made for someone special that y'all know! She has a love of all the elements I've used on this little card....I hope you can join me in wishing Paulina Nakamura from DeNami Design & Pretty Pink Posh a very happy and blessed birthday!

I started off with a navy cardstock base and layered on some fun papers from my neon 6X6 paper pad that I die cut with scallops and a stitched border. I recently picked up a cute little stamp set (I think it's My Favorite Things) that has great sentiments and fun little sequins to stamp out. I broke out my Hero Arts neon inks and a gold metallic marker and got busy making this fun shaker for the focal point of the card.

I wanted to show you what I did on the inside but I forgot to take a picture!! I used the happy birthday stamp from the All Occasion Sentiment stamp set then selectively inked up the "friend" portion of the Hello Friend sentiment and stamped it underneath the Happy Birthday...it was cute!! I just love how fun and versatile DeNami stamps can be!!

Don't forget, there's still time to enter our birthday giveaway right here on the Addict blog! Just like us on Facebook and leave a comment on our birthday post to enter!

A little summer fun

Hi everyone!! Surprise...it's only Thursday!!!! I wanted to pop in with a little card that I made to enter a few challenges. I had a little time and pulled out some much loved but neglected stamps for a little play time.

Here's my card....
That little Single Daisy from DeNami always makes me think of a pretty summer day...what a perfect little image!! I wanted a sentiment but I also wanted it to take a back seat to the daises so I thought the "hello" from the Assorted Greetings stamp set was perfect for a sweet and simple little card such as this one.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:
Paper Sweeties July Challenge - inspiration picture

Crafty Challenge - anything goes
Chrisma Cardz Challenge - anything goes
Red Rubber Inspirationals - anything goes but must use a stamp

Well that's it for me today...don't forget, our birthday celebration right here on the blog is still going on so there's still time to enter the random drawing for a $50 DeNami Design gift certificate!!! All you have to do is "like" us on Facebook and leave a comment on the birthday post!!

CAS dragonfly

Good morning everyone!! Sorry I'm a little late...forgot to schedule this little post...sigh! I had uploaded the picture and meant to write the post and schedule it yesterday...well that never happened! I'm sorry!!

I love a good CAS (clean & simple) layout for one main reason...time! There are time when I don't have a card on hand and need one quickly and honestly, I'm not good at all with CAS. Y'all know how I puffy heart me some layers and yummy embellishments!! Well, here's a layout that I came across a long time ago when DeNami hosted monthly challenges on their blog. I've used this layout again and again because it's easy to put your own spin on and basically, it's PERFECT!

It's sooooo hard for me to leave all of that "white" space!!! But that's what CAS is all about...no fuss! I used 3 stamps - dragonfly, steam curl and a sentiment from the everyday greetings stamp set. I also used very little cardstock. Half of a piece of black and the white & magenta are actually scraps!

That's it for me today, I'll see you back here on Friday! Ohh and don't forget to enter the random drawing for a $50 DeNami gift certificate!!!

Happy 4th Of July!!!!

Can you believe that it's July 4th already?? What have you got planned for this fantastic 3 day weekend? Me...well, in my house we generally play it pretty low key and just hang out.

I have another fun little celebration card to share with you....
I started off by making my own patterned paper by stamping a piece of white cardstock all over with the teeny star background then building it up by randomly stamping the brushed stars and the teeny star. For my focal panel I once again stamped the teeny star background then added the God Bless America sentiment.

I hope that y'all have a safe and fun holiday and I'll see you back here on Monday with a new challenge for The Shabby Tea Room. Don't forget to enter for the DeNami Addict birthday giveaway for your chance to win a DeNami Design gift certificate!!

Rustic 4th of July...

Have you joined in the DeNami Addict birthday celebration...click here for details on the giveaway!!!

Do you make patriotic cards for the 4th of July holiday? For some reason I normally skip this holiday. However, DeNami has some SUPER great stamps that are perfect if you decide to make up a few...
I only used 2 stamps for this rustic 4th of July card...brushed stars & A Celebration sentiment. I just love stamps that have multiple uses like both of these do! Blogger note: the sentiment is on sale!! This card was fast and easy...I added the patterned papers from my stash, stamped a piece of kraft with white ink, stamped and notched a piece of cream then tied on some twine and added a star that I free handed. I distressed everything with Tim Holtz Tea Dye or Tea Stain...can never remember the name, lol, I just know it's tea something or other ;)

That's it for me today...see ya on Friday!!!
