Ahhh the smell of Lilacs

This one sort of speaks for itself - don't you think?

Come a little closer....

I used KOH-I-NOOR Hardtmuth pencils and odorless mineral spirits to color the flower. You can't see it in the pic - but there is a small shadow in between each flower and surrounding to bring out the color just a bit more. I thought about using Crystal Laquer but ultimately decided against it. The simplicity works I think.

A wee little peek inside....

Stamps used in this card - P75 Lilac (retired)

Wavy Flowers

If I had to name just one thing that I loved about Denami Design, I wouldn't be able to answer...there are just too dang many! That being said, one of the many things, would definitely be how the older and newer stamps work so well together and compliment each other.

And we can't forget the inside...

I just love pulling out handfuls of stamps and not having to worry if they will work together or not. That darling little wavy stem trio just works with everything! As usual, I'm holding back on my bling...I know, this card was screaming (seriously, I could hear it up on the 2nd floor...) for glitter but it's against the OWH rules and for good reason.

They say its your Birthday

Well it may not be YOUR birthday...but it IS my teenage daughter's birthday so first and foremost let me say Happy Birthday Teenage Daughter!

So of course, when I was thinking of today's card, I had to do a birthday card in honor of my daughter. Its a pretty simple but fun card. I used the Chickie with the heart stamp....but masked the heart! I mean...he really needed a bunch of balloons instead!

Now for a closer look...

And for the inside I decided to do a little paper piecing on the balloons....

I used crystal laquer on the balloons and raised the middle one with a pop dot. Also, though the camera doesn't pick it up (no matter how many times I tried), on the celery cardstock I stamped the little starburst from the petit four stamp set.

Stamps used: PF14 Party Time, D112 Chickie w/Heart

Quilt Blocks

A few years back I decided to make my hubby a quilt and I chose a Fence Rail design. It's made up of small strips sewn into blocks, then the blocks are all sewn together (in alternating directions) to make up the quilt. My quilt was much loved, well used and has since been retired. Seeing it hanging on the quilt rack in my bedroom inspired me to try out this little card....

I had a hard time not adding a little sparkly bling to this card, but it's going into the collection I'm sending to Operation Write Home and they can't have sparkles getting onto the service men/womens uniforms. They send blank cards to soldiers for them to write home to loved ones with...what a great thing to do isn't it?!?!

What do you mean there are other colors besides pinks and purples....

Soooo, the other day I made a card for a challenge and put it up on my "all things crafty" blog. I made the comment that I can't believe I actually used blue. I like blue...it's a pretty color, but I just never reach for it when making a card. Well, some smarty pants, and I'm not one to start naming names or anything, *cough-Wendy-cough*, sorry, something in my throat...where was I...ohh yeah, I was informed by someone that there were other colors on the color wheel and that I should try them out.

I'm taking baby steps....I used my usual purple, but paired it with kraft and green. I have to say that someone was right...I'm feelin the purple / green combo....shhh, just don't tell her! (again, no bling...it's killing me but my cards are designated for OWH)
I wanted the balloons to look like they were floating up out of the box when it was opened so I knew I would pop them up on foam tape, but I really wanted more of an effect than that. I had the little twirly guy from the leaf accent set sitting out from a different project and it hit me that I could use it to show off my floating balloons. Ohh, and did ya notice how I changed up the sentiment...

Supplies:
E106 small happy birthday
PF14 party time stamp set
PF51 leaf accents stamp set
F208 open box
RB-7317 chocolate brown grograin ribbon
DeNami Card stocks

Thanks, Tina

All that Glitters....

All that glitters isn't necessarily gold.....but it sure is BLING! I *heart* glitter and after making this card I had it on my hands, face, clothes, in my hair (it was purty) hehe. It's a simple little card and I have seen versions of this card from various places. Very Classic.

(While Flash is having his lawyer look over his new contract, I have hired Fletcher as a fill in.)

Now for a closer look:

At first I was going to add a little something to the top of the card but the more I looked at it, the more I sorta liked the white space. What would you add if anything?

Thinking of you....

I just puffy heart black and pink together...guessing you've noticed that by now ;)  I based this card off of a mini I had made. I was just playing around to see what it would look like normal sized...

Well, I'm feelin' it. I love incorporating different DeNami stamps together in one card!

So, I "borrowed" the sketch....

You know, imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery, or so they say. (on a side note, who is "they" and where are "they"?) With that in mind, I decided to "borrow", no... imitate, no... give my interpretation (yeah, that sounds good) of Tina's sketch from a few days ago. If you want to take a peek at it as well....just click HERE. Once again, I decided to play with the little Thanksgiving Chickies....they are just too cute!

(Please note that Flash has changed his position - again. He is trying to find his best angle. He is currently under contract negotiations and I am taking note of the "attitude")

Now for a closer look...

Actually, using this sketch was pretty quick and easy. So, when you are in need of a quick card and you don't have any on hand, I am sure Tina won't mind if you imitate her as well :)

Stamps used in this card: M65 Large Dot Swirl, D125 Turkey, PF21 Autumn Stamp Set, PF49 Thanksgiving Chickies Set, C64 Pumpkin Chickie

Friendship Day

As a card maker I feel like I have an obligation to try and keep track of those obscure celebratory days we are always hearing about. But, in my "real world", I usually forget to scour the Internet each month looking for them. This is how I managed to miss National Friendship Day earlier this month. I figured better late than never! I have some pretty wonderful friends, and to celebrate them, I made this little cutie.....

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I used sparkly pens to highlight the purses, shopping bags and flowers

My girls know I love them and they also know that I'm far from perfect!

Daisy, Daisy, Daisy....

So the other day, while lurking on the Denami blog, I noticed that Paulina was commenting about using a certain color combination....and I can see why. So with that little bit of inspiration....my mind went to work. And....this card was the result....

Now come a little closer...

Once again, it is a pretty simple card with a little glitter and bling (you know me). And once again I purposefully left the sentiment off, I find that when in a rush, I can grab a card such as this and add something to the inside and then "voila" instant birthday, hello, thinking of you, wish you were here, just because...etc. And that my friends, makes my life just a wee bit easier. And I am all about making things easy.

Stamps used for this card: D75 Small Daisy Blossom, J133 Decorative Flourish

Versitile Sketches

I love to make sketches...they are never perfect...couldn't draw a straight line if my life depended on it, but I don't let a little minor thing like that get in the way ;)

Well, I decided to pull out a few sketches and try them on for size.

As you can see from this picture (I highlighted the pencil sketch so you could see it better), the sketch was a good idea, and can very versitile. I can see Mimi's Boutique buttons down the side and one of the darling  petit four sets as background paper...I think I know what my next card is gonna be!!!

Go ahead and play with it and let me know what you come up with, I'd love to check it out!

Hello Friend

Since the Denami blog hop this past weekend, Tina and I are so excited that we have new followers to our little blog. You just don't know how giddy this makes us. So with that in mind I though I would step a little out of my comfort zone and try something totally new to say welcome and "Hello Friend" to all our new followers....AND....me thinks I like it!

Take a peek (oh and please notice how Flash is now "facing" the camera....he said the side shots make his tush look big...models...geesh!)

And now come a little closer...

Don't you just love Mimi? This darling stamp makes me long for a glass of wine and a good book....
