The Shabby Tea Room - challenge #225 - sketch this

Where did the weekend go, as I sit here and write this post it's already after 5pm on Sunday evening...sigh. My weekend was just not long enough, I hope that you have a good one!!

Well, as I hinted on Friday, today we have a fun new sponsor this week at The Shabby Tea Room! Have y'all ever used flair? I've never jumped on the bandwagon and now after playing with it for the first time I am kicking myself! Let me introduce you to Bossy Joscie and the adorable flair that she sells (she also has wood stamps)!!
Joscelyne Cutchens is the woman behind the brand Bossy Joscie. She has been an avid crafter for years and took the plunge into creating flair and stamps a few years ago. You can find many different modern, classic and trendy designs to accent your crafts right in her little shop. She also offers personalized and sentiment stamps as well as digital elements too.
This week's lucky winner will receive a $20 gift certificate from Bossy Joscie!

This week was my turn to pick the theme and I decided that it was time for a little sketch since we haven't had one in quite awhile...
The rules are simple...make a card using this sketch. Feel free to turn it, re-arrange the panels or put your own spin on it.

I couldn't decide which flair to use so I pulled out my new 6X6 paper pad by Bo Bunny called Lemonade Stand and made the card. After making the card it was much easier to decide which ones worked best. ;) The Offset Sun Ray flair are perfect for a bright colorful card.

Please link your creations at The Shabby Tea Room by Sunday, July 6th to play along. Winner and Tea Time Terrific Top Three will be announced Monday, July 7th. We will have an all-new challenge for you to play along with on the 7th as well, so please come back and visit with us again for another chance to win!

Summer Fun....

Can you ever go wrong with fun colors and a fun theme...does it ever get to be too much?? I think not!!

Here's another tropical themed card to go with Wednesdays....
I pretty much used the theme and color palette along with a few of the same stamps but added a couple of different ones to make a totally different background.

Stamps:
Hope you have a great weekend and I'll see ya back here on Monday with a new challenge for The Shabby Tea Room! I've picked the theme...a fun sketch! Plus a brand new sponsor will be joining us. It's the first time I've ever used something like this and boy is her little product fun!

Island fun...

Hi everyone! :)

With summer in full swing here in Missouri I thought I'd bring you a little summer fun today! For this little gem I used my all time favorite DeNami flower stamps...the Hibiscus'.

I just love fun and bright cards. I used lime green, orange and hot pink...they just scream summer!! I used several different stamps since I made my own background. I just love the little palm leaf because you can stamp the solid one in a light color then stamp the "colorable" one over the top of it in a darker color. Even if your stamps aren't perfectly on top of each other, it still looks great...kinda like you meant to do that ;)  . The addition of hot pink sequins and a fun paper ribbon treatment just tops it all off!

Stamps:

That's it for me today...see ya on Friday!!

A sweet birthday treat

I'm always on the hunt for new birthday card designs.  I created this little card with a really sweet friend in mind, then decided that it just wasn't good enough and came up with a plan B, lol.

It's not that I don't like this card...I really do. I just wanted to make something just as special as my friend is for her birthday card. Maybe it's just the color palette that I used here that's throwing me off a little. I think I'll revisit this little layout in the future and see how it plays out again before kicking it to the curb ;)

DeNami Design Bright Blossoms blog hop 6/2014

Well hello everyone and welcome to another wonderful fun fill blog hop brought to you by DeNami Design!!! I have some sad news, due to everyone's busy summertime schedules / activities we won't be having any more blog hops until the fall. But rest assured we WILL be back and you can ALWAYS find a ton of DeNami inspiration on the DeNami Pinterest page :)

What a fun theme, right?? Let's get started!!

When: The blog hop starts on June 8th, 2014 at 6 AM, PST. However, you have until June 9th, 11:59 pm PST, to leave comments on all the blogs (to be eligible for a prize).

Why: To be inspired by fun DeNami Design creations and also the chance to win mini shopping sprees on the DeNami Design website!

Prizes: We are giving away THREE $20 gift certificates to our website! We'll be giving away one gift certificate to a random participant (DT members not eligible) and then we'll also be giving away TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop!

If you didn't arrive here from the MOST UBER talented Barb Murphy's blog don't worry, DeNami have the full list of hop participants on their blog. Just head on over there and you can get right back on track :)

As soon as I heard what the theme was I just knew that I had to break out my neon papers and inks...how could I resist a chance to play with them?? Ohh how I miss my teen years growing up in the 80's. I sported the Madonna look for the most part and could seriously ROCK my dad's dress shirt, a wrap around belt, leggings and  neon bobby socks with little black flats. And since I have natural curly hair it was never a problem going BIG, lol!! Those were the days....sigh. Well I guess my love of neon colors is a throw back to that by gone area. ;)
I pulled out my neon inks by Hero Arts and started stamping with some of my fave DeNami stamps to create this cute and bright one layer creation.  I scored a one inch section on the bottom 2/3's then masked it off before stamping my flowers and elements randomly. I removed the mask and stamped the sentiment then added a couple of fussy cut hibiscus flowers and some iridescent cupped flower sequins to finish it all off.

DeNami Stamps Used:
small solid hibiscus
medium solid hibiscus
solid leaf vine
garden accents stamp set
elegant floral stamp set
hello friend sentiment

This is what I love about DeNami. (besides the images being wonderful) all these images are from different times, some older some newer and look how perfect they all work together. You can never go wrong mixing and matching their images!

For my next card I pulled out a little neon 6X6 patterned paper pad by American Crafts (swoon) and chose some pretty bright pink/gold polka dot paper along with a navy/white polka dot paper.

Since I was using such bold colors I decided to keep my design fairly simple. I added a piece of the pink to a kraft card base then I die cut 2 little flourish thingies and cut one in half to make my pattern. After making my "corner bracket" with the flourishes I added a flower using foam tape that I had stamped / colored & fussy cut. I added a small sentiment (pink neon ink) a little twine and some bling to finish it all off.

DeNami Stamps Used:
summer flowers set
thoughtful greetings set

Well that's all I have for ya, now hop on over to visit with another insanely talented person (how in the world did I get sandwiched between these two...what was Paulina thinking!?!?!?), Emily Keaton! Don't forget to leave comments to be placed into the random drawing for a DeNami gift certificate :)

Feeling Crabby??

Blogger Note: You rock...seriously, you totally do!! Thanks for understanding about the post that just didn't happen on Monday. You words of love and encouragement really do mean A LOT!!!! :)

I just have to show you this cute little guy from Whimsy Stamps that I got to play with...he's ADORABLE!

I'm making up a few sample cards for The Stamp Pad where I teach card making classes and this little crab stamp is one that I used. The whole time I had to resist stamping a darling little DeNami sentiment that would be PERFECT to go along with him...Feeling Crabby?! Unfortunately the little shop doesn't carry DeNami (insert a very unhappy person here --- ME!) so I couldn't use it or the other little stamps that would have gone so perfectly with it...

I need to break those cuties out and make a fun summer card right away!!! ;)

Have a GREAT weekend!!

Don't forget that the DeNami "Bright Blossoms" blog hop is this coming Sunday!!! There's sure to be LOTS of eye candy and floral inspiration to see not to mention a chance to win a DeNami gift certificate...see ya on Sunday!!!

The Shabby Tea Room - challenge #221

Hi everyone and welcome to another fun week at The Shabby Tea Room! This week we have a beautiful shabby inspiration picture for you but remember, what you make need not be shabby to enter to win!!

This week Lenet is our creative host and she has chosen the theme of 'Vintage Love' along with this beautiful photo for inspiration!   Lenet asks that you create a card or project inspired by the COLORS IN THE PHOTO AND INCLUDE LACE/RIBBON, ROSES + BLING/GLITTER!

Here's what I made...
I didn't want to add too much glitter because I wanted to keep the card kinda toned down over all so I used my clear Wink Of Stella pen to add just a slight touch of sparkle to the stamped roses. Speaking of those stamped roses...this week our sponsor is Paper Sweeties!! There's sooo much more than just the darling little "paper dolls" that you can dress up, they've really expanded their images and are now carrying dies to match their stamps!

Paper Sweeties is owned and illustrated by Debbie Marcinkiewicz, and offers  high-quality, on trend acrylic stamps, metal dies and embellishments.  Our heartwarming images allow paper crafters to create adorable dolls with interchangeable outfits and accessories! We also have a wide variety of wonderful all-occasion sentiments, labels, frames and accessory sets - perfect for every paper crafted project!  The Sweeties dolls, accessories and sentiments are so much fun to play with and are sure to bring back fond childhood memories!  You'll enjoy using the Sweeties stamps and dies to create projects for card making, scrap booking, party invitations and favors, home decor, gifts and so much more!

Winner will receive a $20 gift certificate from the Paper Sweeties boutique!

Please link your creations at The Shabby Tea Room by Sunday, June 8th to play along. Winner and Tea Time Terrific Top Three will be announced Monday, June 9th. We will have an all-new challenge for you to play along with on the 9th as well, so please come back and visit with us again for another chance to win!
