Yup, I broke it out again...

Happy Friday everyone! Whew, here in St. Louis we are hot hot hot, it topped out at 108 without the heat index yesterday! We are also in the middle of a drought...can't remember the last time it rained, sigh. This however, has kept our humidity super low, usually we are at around 70 to 80 percent but yesterday it was only at 13%. I don't want to even think how hot it would have felt yesterday if the humidity would have been at our normal level...jeeze. Looks like the weather isn't cooling down anytime soon either. Guess I'll just have to stay indoors and have a lot of crafty time...ohhh the torture ;)

Well, let's get on with this post shall we? Like I said on Monday, I really love this cute little sunflower stamp and I couldn't resist another go at it. I decided that sometimes you just don't need to add color...

Paulina from DeNami Design, upon reading last Mondays post went out of her way to find me some examples of cards using this sunflower...how awesome is she? If you'd like to see some more of this cute little sun loving flower, here are some links, :) enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great weekend!

A Paper Players sketch and more...

Good morning everyone! Wow, I'm in a fantastic mood, I just came from the DeNami blog and saw day two of the sneak peek of the new Fall/Winter collection...wow! I can't wait to get my hands on them for sure...sigh.

Well, today I have a card for The Paper Players current challenge. What a fun sketch they have for us this week...
The possibilities are just endless with this little sketch. Unfortunately I really only have time for one entry this week. I pulled out my all time fave stamps for this card and not only that, I used the colors for the current challenge right here on the Addict blog! It didn't start out that way, but sometimes fun accidents happen! :)

Well, here's my creation...
How about a little side view to show the dimension...
I had a lot of fun with this card...I hadn't gotten to pull out my hydrangea stamps and glitters in quite a while. I have to scoot before I'm late for work...ya'll have a great day!!

Rows of sunflowers

I finally acquired the ohhh so cute small sunflower stamp with full intentions of using it right away. I even made this card for a little reminder for our last challenge (garden theme) but never got a chance to post it :(

This stamp had been on my wish list forever and I had no idea what I wanted to do with it when I ordered it, I just simply knew I loved it and would figure out something....
To give the sunflowers a little texture, I added some "scattered straw" Distress Stickles to all of the petals. It really looks great in person...wish ya'll could see the effect. Now that I'm looking at the picture, I think I should have dry embossed the orange panel...ahhh well, too late now!

Thanks for stopping by!

A morning cup'a joe

Good morning everyone! I thought I'd pop in to remind ya'll about the challenge that's running right here on the DeNami Addict blog.
While your colors don't have to be exact, we ask that you keep them as close as possiable

This challenge is being sponsored by DeNami Design of course!

For all the information on the challenge just click the link above or the challenge graphic on the side bar. This challenge ends on July 8th.

For this little card I pulled out one of my favorite layouts. I'm sure ya'll reconigize it if you've been following me for very long. It's just so versitile and works with just about anything! Plus, it's just one layer!! If you'd like even more inspiration, just visit the challenge post to see the examples that Wendy & I have created.

Thanks for stopping by and have a safe but fun weekend!

I can see clearly now...

Hello everyone,

This morning I have a card to share with you that I made for the latest CAS-ual Friday challenge.
CFC57: Create a Clean And Simple project using acetate or vellum

Since Wednesday was the first day of summer I decided to make a little something in celebration....
Fun colors and flowers that just scream "Welcome Summer"! I used aquamarine iridescent cardstock for my card base but I lined the inside with white cardstock for stability since it's rather thin. I used a 2" Marvy scalloped circle punch to make my little window and added a layer of acetate. I couldn't manage to capture the acetate in any of the pictures I took...trust me, it's there ;)

I'll see ya back here tomorrow with a little card I made using the color palette for our current challenge right here on the Addict blog. Have a great day!

Teeny yellow flowers

Hello everyone,

I've really enjoyed playing with the color combo for DeNami's current challenge, that naturally when Lawnscaping announced their new color splash challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do! Don't ya just love when something comes together like that?

 Well, here's my card...
I used 6 different shades of grey {ha ha, good series ;) } markers to make the ombre chevrons. I've wanted to try something like this for quite a while now and I finally had the perfect excuse :)

I hope you like my take on these challenges, thanks for stopping by!

Revisiting a Paper Players Sketch

I LOVE challenges, and last week I gave you a little insight into why I enter them. Recently I was introduced to The Paper Players blog by a friend and quickly fell in love with this weekly challenge. This week is a big milestone...their 100th Challenge! Not only are they having a little DT blog hop but we are to pick a past challenge and tell why we liked it. Well, I had some trouble with this! They have easy links to follow for past colors and sketches and I quickly became overwhelmed with all the wonderful choices....how could I possibly pick?? After a good thirty minutes perusing the eye candy options, I made my decision. And why I didn't make this decision in the first place I'll never know...it was a no brainer...jeeze!

I chose a little sketch that I have previously submitted a card on. I decided on this sketch because it marks a milestone for me personally. This is officially the first non-DeNami challenge that I have ever placed in. Yes, there was A LOT of self back patting ;)  Between this and then a few days later my "tips and tricks" segment here on the Addict blog being linked on the Tsukineko Facebook Page, I was flying high and grinning so much my cheek muscles were sore, lol! I rate this right up there with my First DeNami placing and my first school girl crush...sigh. I'm still kinda giddy over it a couple of weeks later :)

I'll shut up now cause I could go on forever about it, lol. See, told ya I was still giddy!! Lets get to the sketch and my new card, shall we?

Here's the sketch...

Here's what I submitted previously...

For this new submission I decided to go in the opposite direction. I chose my MUCH loved DeNami butterflies and a fun summery color palette.

Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget, there's still time to enter the challenge right here on DeNami Addict...just click the link on the sidebar for all the info!!

Yellow water lilly

Good morning everyone. I only have a minute, my back was killing me all weekend and doesn't seem to be any better this morning and now I'm running late for work. Don't ya just love Monday's...sigh.

I wanted to show ya'll a little card I made up for the current DeNami challenge. I just can't get enough of this color combo, it's just so pretty!

I only used 3 stamps: water lily (I stamped and fussy cut it 4 times to form my flower), large dot swirl, and for the sentiment, heartfelt sentiments set. The panels are all flat but my lily is popped up on foam tape for a nice shadow effect.

I gotta scoot now...hope ya liked it. Have a great day everyone!

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think....good or bad....or even better - what would you have done differently??...crafty minds wanna know!

Manly birthday card

Hey ya'll, so, I know I wasn't going to post again until Monday, but I got to thinking that this little card I had for Monday's post would be better for today. Father's Day is Sunday and this card can EASILY be changed up...simply change the sentiment. I thought ya'll might like another manly man card for inspiration.

Recently my Father-in-law had a birthday. I screwed up the card I made by using the wrong sentiment so I had to come up with another manly man card. I STRUGGLE to come up with something guy friendly most of the time. However, I think I did a fairly nice job keeping the pink and sparkles out of this creation, lol!

My only issue with it is that I should have added a button to the twine knot. Other than that...I'm feeling pretty good about it. Fairly simple and clean, nothing too frilly and still managed to use a much loved edge punch...great for a guy.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Why do I enter challenges you ask??

Good morning everyone! I had this little post scheduled for tomorrow, but then realized one of the challenges I'm doing ends this morning....EEEKKK! I have a little calender, but still managed to mess up...go figure. ;)

Do you ever participate in challenges? If not, you totally should. They get you outside of your little box and open you to a whole new world. Take both of these challenges I'm submitting for today;

CAS-ual Fridays
I'm not a CAS card maker by any means...it's a challenge! Give me layers and punched borders and bow and buttons...sigh, I love it all. So CAS, yeah, outside of my little scalloped punched box for sure!

The Paper Players
I would have never put this color combo together...It's sooooo pretty and here I would have missed out on putting it together had it not been for a challenge.

Here's my CAS card using that yummy color combo...

I pulled out some WAY under used DeNami border stamps for this little card. I started our with a charcoal grey card base and used lime and white layers (DeNami cardstocks). I didn't have a lime or grey ink pad so I used my Tombow markers to color up my stamps. Before putting it all together, I added a length of DeNami grosgrain ribbon for a little pop of color between the panels.

I hope I've inspired you to try out a little challenge or two yourself. These are great challenges to enter and Don't forget, DeNami Design has a monthly challenge and we here at DeNami Addict do to! Our new challenge started this past Monday...give it a try, what have you got to loose? I'll see ya'll back here on Monday :)

Thought I'd try a couple of challenges

Good Morning everyone! Today is Wednesday and we all know what that means...this week is 1/2 over!! Can't wait for the weekend for some relaxation and much needed crafty time :) I will have to admit that since I started reading a little book series that my crafty time has taken a hit. I just can't seem to put these books down...I'm on the 3rd one and am sad to see them end...sigh, I'll miss Mr. Grey ;)

I did get busy and finish up a couple of cards I had started for the following challenges...
DeNami Design color challenge

CAS-ual Fridays Sweet Spot challenge

I'm really loving the color palette that DeNami DT member, Wendy, came up with...how pretty!! Then add in one of my all time favorite things...polka dots, how can a gal go wrong??

I started out with a black card base and added lots of layers using charcoal grey, iridescent pearl and white cardstocks. I used the dots from the basic borders set to bring in the polka dots from the dry embossed panel and added a simple vase with greenery. For the vase I stamped it and colored it in with a dark grey marker. I then stamped a leafy sprig and colored it in. I wasn't happy with the "neat inside the lines" coloring, it just didn't pop enough. I decided to trace outside the lines making the yellow bolder. I then re-stamped the vase and fussy cut it out, colored it and filled in the whole thing with Crystal Lacquer to give it shine and dimension.  After it was all dried I cupped it a little and attached it over the one I stamped on the panel. I had a hard time deciding weather or not to put a sentiment on the card, in the end I just left it off. I hope ya'll like it as much as I do :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great rest of the week!

And the winner is....

Wow, can you believe we have our first ever DeNami Addict challenge under our belt? Before I announce the winner of our Garden theme challenge, I want to thank all of you that entered…you gals are just awesome! It's an amazing feeling to come up with a little theme and see what you gals created!

As you know, our little Garden themed challenge was sponsored by DeNami Design. They are offering a $15 gift certificate to our winner! And as a little something fun, I designed a little badge for our winner to put on her blog to show off her accomplishment. Now don’t go thinking I’m talented…cause I’m not. I had the basic idea and Paulina from DeNami made it all adorable! You should have seen what I sent her to work with. It was enough to make a person cringe…trust me ;)

I really wish we could just pick everyone! It was such a hard decision with having really talented ladies submitting, they were ALL spectacular! Well, I’m betting you’re anxious to get on with this, so, here’s our very first challenge winner….

Barb Murphy

As I mentioned, here's a little badge for your blog
If you'd e-mail Paulina (office@denamidesign.com), she will get you all squared away with your gift certificate.

I'll be back here shortly to announce the new challenge! It starts today and runs through Sunday, July 8th and I can't wait to see what you super talented gals come up with!

Manly Man Man Card (aka The Denami Blog Hop

It's that time again - the Denami Blog hop and this time its Cards for Guys.  If you are traveling along in order then you have arrived from the talented Pam Wendt

Now, I won't be exaggerating when I say that I had just a wee little bit of creative block when trying to come up with something.  I mean, I am girly girl.  I like pinks and pastels and flowers (and chickies too of course).  I don't have a lot "manly" type stamps.  And then it came to me - Father's Day is just around the corner so what a perfect opportunity to do a two for one special. And so, that is what I did.

I went the simple route on this card but I think it turned out nicely.  I only used one stamp D99 - Dad.  Yes, I think my good ol Pop will be pleased with this card next week.  What do you think?

As in true Hop fashion, don't forget to comment along the way so you will be eligible for one of  two Denami Gift Certificate (given to a random commenter - now what could be easier than that?).  Now if you get lost along the way - you can always start back at the beginning at the Denami Blog .

Next up on the Hop is Stacy M. - I can't wait to see what she has for us today!
