World Card Making Day! and a Challenge!

Happy World Card Making Day!!!!!

Sometimes I am asked by friends or family members..."Wendy, what do you do with all those cards you make?". Well, that's a good question. Some, I keep for inspiration. Others I send out to my friends as "Happy Mail" because let's face it - who doesn't like getting a little hand made greeting card in the mail....just because. The others...are sent here.....

Operation Write Home
Tina introduced me to this wonderful organization that sends handmade greeting cards to our men and women serving overseas so that they may send a note home to their loved ones (lets face it, when was the last time you saw a Hallmark store in the middle of the desert?). What a great pairing between those who like to make cards (Hellooo...TINA AND ME....duh) and those that can really use them to send home. Sort of a no brainer.

So for World Card Making Day, we want to give you a little challenge. Unfortunately, there isn't a "prize" associated with this little challenge other than knowing that you are giving something selflessly to someone who will cherish it more than you will ever know - and for us that is prize enough. Our challenge is for you to #1 go through your cards that you have made that are just lying around. Gather them up to send to this organization. #2 After looking through your stash, CREATE - I mean it IS WORLD.CARD.MAKING.DAY after all! Make one - Make MANY! #3 After gathering them up, don't let them sit there on your desk waiting to be sent....send them out ASAP - the sooner you send them, the sooner a serviceman or woman will be sending them home. And finally #4 tell us here that you have done it!

Now, there are a few rules (please see the Operation Write Home website for all of them) and the hardest one for us is...no glitter. None. Zip. Zilch. Nada. *Sigh* You know how we "heart" the glitter. But, if we can make a card without it and so can you.

So get out there....create....and send them on!
