Tool talk... January 2013

Hi everyone! I'm excited today :)  Today I'm debuting a brand new blog feature and as you can see by the post title, it's about tools. As I perused the isles in one of the big box crafty stores I took notice of the myriad of tools now available to crafters like us. How in the world are we supposed to know what they all do or which ones other crafters love or don't love. I know I've bought a few that just weren't worth a darn but then I have a few that you'd have to pry from my cold dead hand to get it from me, lol! It really had me thinking about what tools other crafters find invaluable. From all of that thinking, my teeny brain got tired ;) and a new blog feature was born. I thought you'd like this to be a monthly segment and have enlisted a few crafty gals  (that we all know & love) to show us what tools they love too!

I sat at my desk and gave it a lot of thought. I asked myself  "what tool do I use consistently and could not live without". This little tool is one that I tend to reach for time and time again...
My favorite tool is the Quickstick by Quickutz.
This one little tool has so many uses...

It has an angled flat end that is perfect to break loose gemstones and the tacky end is great for picking them up to place on your project. It's also perfect for those tiny little pieces of cardstock for paper piecing and the flat end helps line it up perfectly. I used to use my fingernail but you still can't see very well with your hand in the way, this tool lets me see everything so I get it right the first time.

Since it's round, it's great for making wire curls or to curl ribbons. If you have thin cardstock, the pointed end is great for making a little hole for brads or to string twine through.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the concept of this segment and feel free to ask any questions about this little tool...I'll be happy to answer them :)   Thanks for stopping by!

  3. When I saw the photo on my blogger reader, I thought you were going to extract some teeth on the addict blog! Ha! Anyway, this tool looks so cool because I have the worst time with rhinestones getting under my nails, and that is if I have the nails to pick up the rhinestones. My fingertips just can't pick them up so what a neat tool to have handy! Love this new blog feature :)

  4. I like the blog feature idea. It would be great to be able to have all the different tools explained. You're always more willing to buy something if you know how to use it. :) Thanks for the info.
