Manly Man Man Card (aka The Denami Blog Hop

It's that time again - the Denami Blog hop and this time its Cards for Guys.  If you are traveling along in order then you have arrived from the talented Pam Wendt 

Now, I won't be exaggerating when I say that I had just a wee little bit of creative block when trying to come up with something.  I mean, I am girly girl.  I like pinks and pastels and flowers (and chickies too of course).  I don't have a lot "manly" type stamps.  And then it came to me - Father's Day is just around the corner so what a perfect opportunity to do a two for one special. And so, that is what I did.
 

I went the simple route on this card but I think it turned out nicely.  I only used one stamp D99 - Dad.  Yes, I think my good ol Pop will be pleased with this card next week.  What do you think?

I reached for the Daisy - AGAIN

Ok perhaps an intervention needs to be planned.  I mean, really, I seem to have a "thing" for the daisy stamps.  Yes, yes I do!  But in my defense the daisies are so versatile and cute.  How can you not love them?

 I was looking through my stamps and couldn't decide on a boarder that I wanted to use and my eye kept wandering over to my large daisy stamp.  So I said to myself...."Wendy (cause I always address myself by name - its only polite) that daisy sure would be cute around the edges" and you know what? I was right.  Then I was getting ready to color the daisies and was once again in a debate with myself on what colors I should use.  As I was working it out in my mind I thought..."well, let me start by doing the centers and then maybe by the time I am done I will decide what colors use".  Then I looked at the card....just like it was, with just a little hint of the color in the center (this was before I added the sentiment) and it just sort of stood out to me.  I liked it just as it was.  Basic. Simple. Clean. And so it was decided that was how it was going to stay!  I do think I am going to go back and add a little crystal laquer to the center of the daisy for a little extra pop!

I used J77- large daisy and D78 Happy Day stamps.

Summer ladybugs

Today I have a fun summery card for you. I'm entering this in The Paper Players challenge.

What a challenging theme! I had a VERY hard time deciding what to do...so many stamps and options!

I pulled out a few stamps I haven't used in ages and came up with this...

This little card is making me want to go on a picnic!



I know I pull out this color combo quite a bit...but I can't help myself. I just love how I can make something elegant and then turn around and make something so fun with it. Classic colors that will never let you down.

Heya everyone!

Today I have an odd little card for you. I've recently started submitting to magazines. Now, they are way ahead of the game when they put out calls for certain kinds of cards. This little creation was submitted...and rejected...for a November issue. Hope you like it better than they did, lol!

I'm thinking that if they had any clue how stinkin' hard it was to line up that little wheat stalk so perfectly each time they would have picked me....well, that's what I'm telling myself anyway. It's okay to live in my fantasy world, mmk ;) ?

Graduation 2012

It's that time of year again where the merriment of Commencement commences and with that comes Grad parties and celebrations.  This year, my husband's niece has her turn in the cap and gown.  Her school colors are black and red so I came up with this little cutie to accompany her gift.

OK, I may be slightly biased, but I think it turned out cute!  For this card I used: CL-CB004 - Graduation Set and I60- Large Chickie.  I stamped and fussy cut the cap and diploma to glued to the top of the chickie. Very simple really and the colors can be changed to match any school colors.

Tips and Tricks - June 2012

A couple of weeks ago we let you know about some of the upcoming changes and new things we were going to do here on the DeNami Addict blog. One of the fun new things we are doing is a monthly tips and tricks segment where we discuss a little trick we've discovered, an easier way we've learned to do something or other interesting topic. If there's a topic you'd like to learn more about just send us an e-mail  (DenamiAddict@yahoo.com). You never know, we could feature it right here in this segment.

I'd like to welcome you to our first little Tips & Tricks post. Today I'd like to discuss how I get the most from my sentiments. Weather a sentiment is too long or you're wanting it a little "less wordy", with a little simple masking, you can change up your sentiments and make them fit your card design. Below are 2 examples of how you can change up your sentiments.

For both examples below I used these products:

Here's an example of how I used a portion of the new Happy Mother's Day stamp. You may remember this card from the DeNami Design Pastel's blog hop...

Here's how I stamped my sentiment...

 By simply placing a piece of clear tape on my stamp where I didn't want ink before inking up my stamp I was able to shorten this sentiment to fit my card.

I pulled the tape off, checked for stray ink and stamped the image

As a side note, be careful when you remove the tape. It's easy to get ink on your fingers and ruin your project. Trust me...been there, done that ;)  I keep baby wipes handy for inky fingers.

See how easy that was? Now let me show you how I take a sentiment that's "stacked" and change it to fit side by side. You may remember this card from the February DeNami sketch challenge.

Here's how I did it...

I started out stamping the full sentiment on my transparent sheet

I masked off and inked the stamp like I did in the first example. Then stamped the image where I needed it.

I then masked off the word "with" and using my Stamp-a-ma-jig figured out the placement for the second word

Flowers for a friend...

Good morning everyone! Today I have a bright and fun card for you. I made this up for the Card Patterns challenge. Here's their sketch...

Here's my version...

If you've been following me for any length of time, you know that I rarely use patterned papers. I just love making my own and DeNami Design stamps make it so easy! Normally I paper piece this cute little basket, but I decided to do things the hard way this time around. I stamped the basket on my panel and then stamped it again on thin copy machine paper and fussy cut it out. I used the surrounding area from cutting out the basket to mask my panel before stamping the pattern onto the basket. I then used the cut out basket to mask the stamped basket area before stamping the flowers and greenery.

And a little side view to show the layers and shadowing...

This card also works for the challenge we have going on right here on DeNami Addict. Our theme this month is "garden"...all the info can be found by clicking the link on the side bar. Remember, you don't have to use a DeNami product to enter!!
