ohh my...ghosties are in the air!

Can you believe that there's only a week and a half left in September?? It feels like it should only be the 5th of September...this month has flown by me! I want to thank all of you for your well wishes for my hand issue. Y'all are too sweet! The infection seems like it's all gone...Cellulitis isn't something to play around with apparently so I'm glad it was caught early!!





With October rapidly (at the speed of light it seems) approaching it has my little brain going into over drive thinking about my favorite holiday...Halloween!! I'm excited to pull out my DeNami Halloween stamps and play! How about we start off the Halloween season with a fun card I made last year, why wait until October, right?

What a super easy card to put together! I started out with a black card base (A2 sized) and set it aside for a moment. I cut a piece of charcoal and a piece of orange cardstocks the taped them together on the back side and cut them to size to fit my base - keeping the orange panel larger than the charcoal one. Using the chevron pattern stamp from the Modern Borders set I made a "stripe" across both pieces of cardstock. In order to hide the ugly seam line, I added a length of black grosgrain ribbon, tied it in a bow and adhered it to my base. I made a little panel out of the orange cardstock and layered on a piece of lime green that I had free hand cut a wavy edge on. I stamped the little Halloween Fence (twice to get the length I wanted) onto the green and my sentiment on the orange then adhered that to a piece of charcoal cardstock and attached it all to the lower corner of the card. I knew that I wanted to add my little Friendly Ghost because I puffy heart that little guy so much but thought he needed a little friend so I fussy cut a Friendly Bat also. They are both popped up using foam tape/pop dots for some fun dimension. I thought it could still use just a little something so I added two black rhinestones to the focal panel and a little button/twine treatment to the bow.

Ohh how I love Halloween and getting to break out my darling DeNami Halloween stamps!! I plan on getting them all out and playing as much as possible this weekend! :)

Mother's Day Daisys

Ohh my goodness, Mother's Day just keeps creeping closer and closer!! How about another card for inspiration?? The inspiration for this card came from one of the project booklets that DeNami had a while back.

This card was super easy to make! I started with a white square base then layered a fuchsia square in the center. I took a strip of celery cardstock and stamped the chevron from the Modern Borders set then added a narrow strip of the fuchsia in the center and layered it all onto the left side of the fuchsia part of the card base. Onto that I layered a square of the celery then the white square that I had previously stamped with the Mother's Day sentiment and tulips I "built" using the Spring Flowers set. To finish it all off I added glitter to the flowers and a few punched circles from the same cardstocks but it could easily be changed up by using some yummy sequins instead of the punched circles.

Bold & Bright: Thinking of you

Happy Friday...FINALLY!!!! I didn't think this week was ever going to end...sigh.

 

There's only a couple of days left and I want to squeak in a 2nd entry for the Paper Sweeties sketch challenge.

What a fun and versatile sketch!! Thinking I'll add this cutie to my list of go-to faves :)

I knew right off that I wanted to make the vertical panels on the sketch using my mucho loved DeNami chevron border and that I wanted to use a bold sentiment (psst...it's on sale!) that would draw your eye. However, the rest of the card was kind of trial and error. I wanted to include something from Paper Sweeties of course so I looked through my ever growing stash and saw the cute little flag in the Fun Shapes set and knew that it would be perfect! I was browsing through my ink pads trying to come up with a color scheme when I decided to again go bold and pulled out the purple / turquoise color combo I used on this card for the blog hop a couple of weeks ago. Let me tell ya, I was way worried about ya'lls reaction to that color combo but you gals are so awesome and said such sweet things about it...thank you :)

 

Here's my little card...

 

I never do this, but I'm going to have to pat myself on the back for this little creation. I'm totally feeling it. The colors are bold & bright and really lend themselves to the bold chevron and sentiment. Then you have such a contrast from adding the flags with that tiny little sweet design...It all just makes the card "pop". I hope you like it as much as I do!!

Hello Chickie...

Hi everyone! :)

Today I have one of the chickies that came out last summer to show you. I just LOVE this little cutie, he's definitely in my top 5 faves as far as chickies go!

 

This card is one of those magical creations that just makes themselves...you know what I mean? I don't think I've ever used 2 backgrounds on one panel like this and I normally don't use a partial panel like the magenta panel under the chickie. Also, if I have something like the tree and chickie, it would be my focal point, not the sentiment. Not a clue what I was thinking while making this card, but I'm really feeling it! It's a darn good layout and will prove to be pretty versatile I bet.

Some layouts are like an old friend...comfortable

I know, I know, I've used this layout several times already....but I just love it, I can't help using it over and over. It's easy, fun and let's me showcase several fun stamps at once. So really, what's not to love, right??

The possibilities with this layout is practically endless; change the color combo up to something fun and summery like maybe a hot pink, teal & celery combo or change the harlequin to a fun chevron image, change your focal image to an chickie or cute little critter and use fun little petit four images that match on your other panel. The sky's the limit....

Penny for your thoughts....

Hi everyone! Have you tried the 10 Minute Craft Dash over on the Pretty Pink Posh blog yet? It's really taken off and no wonder, it's so much fun!! I really look forward to participating and this time around I have a 2nd entry.

Now I know you're looking at this card and scratching your head, and frankly, I'm still doing a little head scratching myself. I can't remember ever making a card so graphic. I'm a layer and fluff kinda girl and this card certainly isn't. Well, there is that yummy bow...it's got my name all over it ;)

I don't sleep we'll and sometimes I pass the time by laying in bed thinking of card designs. I was thinking about one of the latest trends out there, arrows. I actually made a mental note to see if there was a punch or just precut pieces when a brilliant idea popped into my head. I just knew it would work and was way excited. I laid there a little longer and even came up with this layout. Still not sure where it came from because this is not my usual...

As always, I jotted down my idea for the overall card and pulled out my supplies

I can't believe this card came together so fast! 8minutes 7 seconds on the clock. Fortunately my bow didn't need fussing with, it came out perfect the first time around so i saved LOADS of time.

I didn't use many stamps creating this card. My signature polka dots of course and a fun chevron both by DeNami and an alphabet by Lawn Fawn. It's funny that they happen to be the sponsor for this challenge. I just love their alphabets because if how they line up. I never have an issue with making sure they're evenly placed like I do other brands.

I'll let you in on my secret to making my fun arrows. I simply punched a scallop square then snipped a corner off and then cut out the "V" shape leaving me with a fun arrow. Easy to do and a fun new look!

Fancy pumpkins

I still have quite a few fall time cards to show ya'll so you are just going to have to put up with me doing daily posts up through Thanksgiving. I know...the torture ;)   (hehehe)

I just loved playing with this wonderful brushed pumpkin stamp. It's great to make patterns on or to cut out of patterned papers. You certainly can't beat a versatile stamp, that's for sure!

I just can't resist adding glitter to those yummy chevrons! I pulled a leaf from the leaf accent set to add a touch of greenery.

I'm finally organized...

With so much going on here on the DeNami Addict blog and the various challenges that I enter, I have to keep a calendar hung up near my desk where I can write down my ideas and deadlines. As I was making my Back to School hop project, I decided to finally take the time and make a little organizer for myself so that I can easily keep tabs on everything going on here on the blog.

Here's a little close up of the center...

It's all sparkly and girly...it's so me! I love the pastel colors and I used a lot of my favorite stamps. Now I have a place for calendar pages, my challenge line up, color palettes, sketches, themes and misc other things. I just love my little creation and know that I'm going to get a lot of use from it.  :)

CAS-ual Fridays - B&W + 1 & Addict color challenges

Wow, it feels like forever since I've entered a challenge...I'm having withdrawals! The arthritis in my neck that's causing a bulging  disc has been a real pain in the butt neck lately so I've been limiting my crafty time...sigh. Why can't I limit house cleaning, cooking,  laundry or even my day job...sigh, anything but crafty time! ;)

When I saw the theme for the current CAS-ual Friday challenge, I knew I just had to enter no matter what...I LOVE using black &  white. I also wanted to make another card for my color challenge right here on the Addict blog so I combined them!

It's a little hard to tell in the picture, but after I colored in the kitty's collar, I filled it in with magenta glitter. You know me and glitter...I just couldn't resist! This is a prime example as to why the quickie glue pen is a favorite tool of mine, tiny little areas and lines are no challenge at all! Do you recognize that little kitty?? Yes, it IS a DeNami stamp...I turned it into a silhouette!

DeNami Theme Challenge #11 - cherries

When I saw the latest DeNami challenge announced I went into panic mode...how could I make something with no direction? What colors should I choose, what stamps should I choose, what embellishments should I choose? The possibilities are endless...sigh. 

 

Well, in the end I went to a favorite color palette then picked images that fit that the colors and lastly decided on a layout. Hope you like it :)

I stamped the cherries then stamped the jar over them. The whole image is fussy cut and placed onto the white panel. The set of cherries are fussy cut and popped up on foam tape. Can you tell what the cherries in the jar were before they were cherries?? I'm going to let you think on it just a little.  ;)    The answer is in my supply listing.

I've really enjoyed playing with the color combo for DeNami's current challenge, that naturally when Lawnscaping announced their new color splash challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do! Don't ya just love when something comes together like that?

I used 6 different shades of grey {ha ha, good series ;) } markers to make the ombre chevrons. I've wanted to try something like this for quite a while now and I finally had the perfect excuse :)

bright & fun Mother's Day card

Hello everyone! Today I have another Mother's Day card for you. I decided to brighten it up a bit this time around by using my favorite DeNami cardstock color...magenta.

Gosh, ya just can't help but love the new spring line can you?? Nami outdid herself with all of the flower options!!!

Growing butterflies...

Wow, talk about a brightly colored card! I think I may have went overboard on the yummy new color combo that DeNami's newest uber talented DT member, Emily, has for us. It matches so well with the new spring release!

 If you saw this in person, you'd realize just how much this card really jumps out at you. I just love how bright and fun it turned out...

Take a close look at the butterflies...I couldn't decide how to color them. Then I came up with a great idea...don't color them at all! I used my distress ink tool along with 2 shades of regular ink and created some pretty pink shaded paper. I just love the soft look I managed to acheive. I used silver embossing powder to give them some real pop.
