Elegant and Shabby Birthday

Hi everyone!! Today I want to share a little birthday card that I made for a special someone. She's a dear sweet friend and I really agonized over what kind of card to make for her!! I hope she loves this little creation as much as I do!!

I'm also entering this over at The Shabby Tea Room's current challenge. The requirements are: RED, WHITE (or CREAM), AQUA AND TWINE and/or BURLAP

This little cutie has all of the above even if my "red" is more of a cranberry red than bright red!

This card is why I have a love of those little 6 X 6 paper packs!! All three patterned papers were in one little pack (not the flag patterned paper) along with a little sheet of embellishments that you can cut out. I paired that all up with a little wood veneer scalloped circle frame that I misted in a sparkly aqua, one of my "go to" DeNami stamps...solid leaf vine, some yummy Prima roses, seam binding from Paper Sweeties and a little twine for accent. Ohh I forgot to tell you that the sentiment is from DeNami too. I changed it up with a little masking so that it fit onto the two flags. ;) I just love how this card came together. It's perfect...just like my dear sweet friend!

Have you had a chance to read all about our birthday celebration here on at the Addict blog?? I'm giving away a yummy DeNami gift certificate to a random winner. All you have to do to enter is follow one little rule...make a birthday themed card of your choice (No DeNami products have to be used)! Link up to the birthday celebration and at the end of the month I'll be drawing a random name for the prize package!

I'll see you right back here for the fun Summer Splash DeNami blog hop on Sunday!!

A visit with Chickie...

Hi everyone, it's Chickie Nakamura bringing you a special blog post. Bet you're surprised to see me here on the Addict blog today! Today is a special day because Tina has agreed to let me do a whole post of my own. I was so excited when she agreed to it...was a little nervous that she wouldn't, but my idea of posting about my fun time with her and her family was such a good idea that she couldn't say no. :)

I had a great time on my visit and was lucky enough to even be invited to her niece & nephews 1st birthday party.

Tina said she's sorry about the pictures, she didn't realize her batteries were so drained on the camera
To start off our fun weekend, her Mom came over and we went to the nail salon for a little manicure, then had some seriously fun times shopping. I wanted to go to the mall, but apparently Tina has an unnatural obsession with Target because she insisted we go there instead. I thought I should get to pick since I was the guest but she wasn't having it. That's okay though, I like Target too and she said that it had a Starbucks inside it so that really made me happy.

The first place we hit was the shoe section...
They had LOTS of new styles to choose from...3 pairs later and Tina was happy happy happy! Then we browsed the other areas of the store and finally ended up in the toy section.
The toy section was real fun. I can't believe how many isles of toys there are...wow! Tina finally decided on this fun wagon. I'm thinking I need to ask my Mom, Nami, to get me a wagon too. I can put all sorts of fun things in it, other Chickies, teddy bears, baby dolls, flowers and even Christmas trees...fun fun fun! :) Fingers are crossed, wish me luck asking her!!!

After we came home I helped Tina make the twins a birthday card. Don't you just love the fun colors and those wood veneers she picked up from Ellen Hutson? She found that site through my sister, Paulina. There's a link on Paulina's blog, Pretty Pink Posh.
Tina used her ink pads to color the wood veneers so they would perfectly match the card then coated them with Crystal Lacquer so the color didn't rub off...she's pretty smart! ;)

I had a ton of fun at the party too. There was chili, hot dogs, chips, veggie trays and of course, cake & ice cream. There were fun decorations, lots of presents and Lucy & Henry even had their own cakes that their Mommy had made for them (she's uber talented). Tina told me the story about how they were born too early and had a little trouble getting their start in the world so this occasion was truly a blessing to celebrate. Here's some pictures of me enjoying the fun festivities...

Before I left to go back home Tina and I discussed her DeNami collection. She was telling me that her favorite stamp right now is the new gingham background. I suggested that she put one up in a giveaway. We did a little brain storming and decided to make it a Facebook giveaway. All you have to do is "like" the DeNami Addict Facebook page and leave a comment on the giveaway post she will have the page a little later today. If you already like the Addict page just leave a comment on the special post. Tina will randomly draw a name on Wednesday to win a brand new gingham background stamp...how fun!! (And isn't the graphic with my picture cool? Tina asked my sister, Paulina, if she could make something fun for the giveaway and she took time out of her busy busy busy schedule to help out, she's super awesome!)

Thanks for stopping by and reading about my fun time, I hope to visit with you too very soon. Don't forget that there's fun stuff planned all month long over at DeNami so check the party page often for new updates!

See ya later,
 Chickie

It's July...do ya know what that means?

Well, for me, it means LOTS of birthdays! I have 6 in July...but there are 3 in particular that are super special, our very own Wendy, Paulina from DeNami and of course, ME! ;)

Do ya'll remember way back in March, DeNami Design had a really fun birthday themed blog hop? Well, I had my card all ready to go and then they went and came out with the new spring line of stamps...I simply HAD to make a new card for the hop using the wonderful new line of stamps. I mean seriously, have you seen anything cuter than that cupcake chickie???

Anyway, here's the card I had originally made....I finally am getting around to showing it to ya'll! I stamped the presents, then fussy cut the whole edge and then colored any white edges that still showed blue to match the inside strip.

To give it a a lot of dimension, I stamped and fussy cut several more presents and attached them with foam tape. The yellow panel with the fun blue strip is actually on the inside!
Here's a look at it fully open so that you don't see the inside of the card...
It was hard coming up with a way to photograph it so that you get the feel of how the whole edge is fussy cut so that you can actually see the inside edge of the card when it's closed....I think I managed, well, I hope I did anyway. ;)

I have a couple of announcements for you this morning....
First off, Sunday starts the Summer themed blog hop over on the DeNami Design blog!! WOO-HOO! I can't wait to see all the inspiration these talented ladies have for us. Wendy will be here on the Addict blog with her card and you can find mine over on my personal blog. Hope ya'll can join us!

Second, the little color challenge I have running right here on the Addict blog will end Sunday night. You still have a little time to enter...I sure hope you do!  And don't forget that my new challenge will start Monday.

Thanks for stopping by!

Manly birthday card

Hey ya'll, so, I know I wasn't going to post again until Monday, but I got to thinking that this little card I had for Monday's post would be better for today. Father's Day is Sunday and this card can EASILY be changed up...simply change the sentiment. I thought ya'll might like another manly man card for inspiration.

Recently my Father-in-law had a birthday. I screwed up the card I made by using the wrong sentiment so I had to come up with another manly man card. I STRUGGLE to come up with something guy friendly most of the time. However, I think I did a fairly nice job keeping the pink and sparkles out of this creation, lol!

My only issue with it is that I should have added a button to the twine knot. Other than that...I'm feeling pretty good about it. Fairly simple and clean, nothing too frilly and still managed to use a much loved edge punch...great for a guy.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
